Grade 2 High School (Social Studies/Creative Writing/Reading) Teacher Wanted -1500 USD/month!



Asia Pacific College Dong Nai is now actively recruiting 1 Primary/High School Teacher to join our team at our gorgeous, state of the art campus in Bien Hoa, Dong Nai Province, Vietnam!



The position runs from October 1st 2012-May 31 2013, so the successful candidate should be in Vietnam a few days in advance to acclimatize etc.



We are looking for teachers with lots of positive energy, who love children, understand teenagers (and the difficult world they are coming from!), and who have a passion for teaching.



Teachers must be able to teach well prepared classes with enthusiasm and creativity each day and must be able to bond with their students on a professional level.



Our class sizes at APC Dong Nai are limited to a maximum of 26 students per class, so it is essential that the successful candidate is organized and dedicated, and is able to plan, prepare and execute brilliant lessons!



Our campus comes complete with gorgeous swimming pools, tennis courts, basketball courts, astro-turf soccer fields, ping pong tables, play yards, computer labs, science labs, dance studio and grand auditorium.



Each classroom comes complete with a flat screen t.v, computer with internet access, hardwood floors, a teacher’s desk, bulletin board for you to decorate and call your own, and all the supplies and materials you need to be a great, creative teacher.



The position available consists of teaching 2 levels each day, all year. Grade 2 half day (same class, same students all year) and teaching subjects at the high school level to 3 different classes, the same 3 classes all year so you will get quite familiar with your students!)



Grade 2 subjects include: science, math, reading, writing, art



And the high school session would include teaching: social studies, reading and writing



Because our teachers teach the same group of students all year, our teachers get to bond one on one with students through 21-24 contact hours per week.



Working hours for full time teachers are from Monday to Friday 6:50 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with a 2 hour lunch break from 11:00 a.m.-1:30p.m.



During those working hours, you will not be teaching all day, we do provide sufficient prep time (approximately 6 hrs/week), however during some of your prep time you may be asked to supervise play areas, or participate in school activities, field trips, games days, professional development seminars etc.



Interested Candidates MUST:



• Understand that they will take on a challenging role of teaching in a culture that has experienced a merry go-round of poorly-qualified international teachers with questionable social problems. (Sadly) And must understand the stigmas attached to new teachers in a city that is not yet used to Westerners.



• Understand that it takes time to bond with students and that Bien Hoa is just becoming used to having westerners live and work in the city, and it is important that the successful candidate develops both the tact and patience to handle this.



• The candidate must also understand that the Vietnamese educational system prioritizes fun over classroom discipline and they must ensure that they bond with the children and have the patience to achieve appropriate and mandatory disciplinary goals in the classroom



• Have post secondary education (either a college diploma or university degree) from an accredited institution a TESOL/TEFL/CELTA certificate



• Be a native English speaker (Non-native English speakers, need not apply) from Canada, The United States of America, Australia, England, New Zealand or South Africa



• Be full of energy, enthusiastic, positive, a great team player, charismatic, mentally stable, honest, trustworthy, dependable, reliable, dedicated, tough and willing to learn new teaching techniques, and follow school regulations



• Must not have a police record (in any country)



• Must be between the ages of 26-40 years old



• Be willing to sign a one year contract, and abide by the terms stipulated in the contract



• Travel/world experience is a bonus! ‘Homesick fever’ doesn’t fly well here.



We are looking for someone that understands the frustrations of living in small Asian cities and can tough it out.



The pay for this position is excellent (between 1500-1700 USD/month depending on previous work experience and certifications/credentials), and FULL TIME positions come with a FREE partially furnished apartment, shared with other Foreign teachers at the school.



Each apartment comes with beds, closets, air-con, basic kitchen supplies, hot water, washing machine, t.v., internet and cable access (you’ll have to pay for internet and cable and electricity), and a few other odds and ends.



The apartments are located near the school (only a few minutes drive away or about 10-15 minutes walk) and are in the heart of Bien Hoa city, near the Bien Hoa market, and near lots and lots of cafes, restaurants and shopping.



Bien Hoa is 30 kms from Ho Chi Minh City and is a small town. There are not many foreigners here, so candidates must be willing to adapt to life in small-town Vietnam. That means being able to eat Vietnamese food (as Western food restaurants are limited), adapt to locals not being able to speak English, be able to deal with the frustrations of not being able to communicate your needs and wants etc.



At APC Dong Nai we are a close knit community, so candidates must be friendly, and willing to be a part of our team both inside and outside of the school. It is important that successful candidates are willing to participate in school activities and team bonding/social gatherings to boost morale and team/school spirit.



Once here, training will be provided on an ongoing basis, and we are a very friendly, doors open type of school, so showing you around town and making you feel like a part of the family is a given!
