Job Description

English Teachers Needed for a 3.5-month Special Project

The British Council is the United Kingdom’s international organisation for educational opportunities and cultural relations.

English Teachers needed for a 3.5-month Special Project (Thanh Hoa, Vietnam)

British Council is recruiting for enthusiastic and experienced English Teachers for a brand new short term 3.5-month project in Thanh Hoa, a provincial capital 3.5 hours south of Hanoi, near the popular beach resort of Sam Son starting on 30 August 2012.

As a member of the team, your role will involve training a group of government officers who have been specially selected for advanced study abroad, and are currently studying English full time to raise their proficiency as well as to prepare for the IELTS examination.

Hosted by Hong Duc University Thanh Hoa, the programme is funded by the Communist Party of Vietnam, who have chosen the British Council as key partners to deliver the final part of the intensive training.

The achievement targets are challenging, but the students are of high calibre and motivated. This will be an interesting and rewarding teaching situation, as you will be able to see and experience real progress, and develop close working relationships with the administrators and future leaders of a fast industrialising province.

At the end of the contract, we expect to offer renewals, or there may be opportunities for you to move to one of our centres in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, or participate in other projects in the country.

Key Requirements:

• a high proficiency in English

• an undergraduate degree

• an internationally recognised TEFL certificate (i.e. Cambridge CELTA/Trinity CertTESOL)

• extensive adult teaching and exam preparation experience post certificate

You will receive a competitive package which includes flights from the UK (or equivalent location) to post, baggage allowance, accommodation (3-star hotel) and medical insurance. The gross monthly salary ranges from 2,906 USD to 3,689 USD and the starting point depends on your qualifications and experience.
