Nanguo Business College, affiliated with Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS), is an independent college offering undergraduate education The college was founded under the authorization of the Ministry of Education. Professor Gu Yeli, Vice President of GDUFS, assumes the presidency of Nanguo Business College.
Nanguo Business College is located by Guangcong Highway in Baiyun District. Only 20 kilometers away from the north campus of GDUFS, the College has access to the convenient public transportation. It provides a favorable natural surrounding and ideal campus layout with a full set of teaching, learning, living and entertaining facilities. The campus covers a total area of over 50 hectares, among which 150,000 square meters are allocated for such campus buildings as teaching buildings, laboratory building, administrative building, apartment buildings for teachers and students, library, student center, canteens and service center. It also offers outdoor services for sports such as standard ground track field, football field, basketball playground, tennis court, volleyball court and swimming pool. The College has professional laboratories of various sorts and robust network services, which ensures a sound educational environment. More importantly, the College has a possession of strong teaching staff, of whom more than one third are full or associate professors and more than one third have doctoral or master degrees.
Nanguo Business College adheres to the way of operation which agrees with socialist aims and rightly follows the educational guidelines of our nation. The College has developed a clear concept, that is, to encourage and foster students’ aspiration towards knowledge pursuit, scientific research and humanistic values; to shape students’ moral integrity, spark students’ spirit of innovation and enhance students’ capability to apply knowledge into practice. The College aims to cultivate highly qualified youths who are capable of competing and cooperating in the international arena with their noble mind, strong physique, solid foundation and wide scope of knowledge, broad horizon, and practical ability. In order to fulfill the objective, they are expected to both excel in a specialized field of study and have a good mastery of a foreign language so that they can meet the needs of rapid social and economic changes. The College gives first priority to the quality of educational performance and attaches importance to the characteristics of its own.
Nanguo Business College has set up 6 departments and divisions, namely, Department of English Language and Culture, Department of International Trade and Economics, Department of Management, Department of Informatics, Department of Chinese Language and Culture, and Division of common Subjects. In 2007, the College intends to offer 10 Bachelor degree majors and 7 majors of junior college program, which fall into 4 disciplines of literature, economics, management and engineering. Altogether 2,400 regular students are to be enrolled in 2007, among whom there will be 1600 four-year college students and 800 three-year students. The College confers Diploma of Graduation to all the graduates upon their graduation. Those who meet the requirements of Bachelor Degree Program will be awarded Bachelor’s Degree issued by Guangdong University of Foreign Studies. The College adopts the Credit Hour System and the System of Major Plus Minors. The full-time undergraduates can choose the Dual Bachelor Degree System(i.e., 4+1 System).
