Director of Studies Required for Leading ESL School, Vancouver

Overview: Our client, a leading International ESL school provider with multiple campuses worldwide, requires an experienced Director of Studies to lead and grow its academic team and programs at their Vancouver Campus. This demanding position requires an experienced, confident manager who will successfully lead the team of teachers and manage the student body, adhere to the program and polices as well as implement change and development initiatives smoothly and effectively. Of greatest importance will be ensuring student satisfaction and progress while simultaneously maintaining efficient and effective use of staff and resources. Also of critical importance will be hiring, training, supervising and managing all the academic staff while adhering to budgetary and organizational constraints.

Location: Vancouver, British Columbia

Contract Terms: Permanent full-Time; start as soon as possible.

Compensation: $50k

Qualifications Required:

BA and CELTA / TESL Canada recognized certification;

administrative experience in an ESL School;

Experience teaching ESL/EFL to adults in a mixed language environment;

Eligible to work legally in Canada; and

Efficient with MS Office Suite applications.

Preferred: Masters TESL or DELTA + experience managing in a unionized environment.

Experience in Canada essential and international experience, an asset.


Reporting directly to the School Director:

Manage all communication and information related to academic policies and procedures.

Demonstrate Leadership qualities (dedication, respect, cooperation, motivation, and innovation, commitment to quality, excellence, and customer service) to staff student and management.

Hire and manage and hire all staff according to accreditation and budgetary constraints.

Provide counseling for students on academic matters, and manage all classes; handle and mediate various disputes /problems between students and teachers.

Implement curriculum and policy changes according to standards and guidelines.

Promote and maintain an atmosphere conducive to a harmonious work environment for all workers (unionized and not unionized), management and students.

Develop and implement customer service and public relation/promotional activities that will result in growth for the campus.
