The Sequoia FoundationVolunteer Online Teachers Needed
EnglishWorks is looking for volunteers to begin next week ! If you want to practice your teaching skills , learn and have fun with brazilian students from your home, you should apply!
Skype Volunteer Project
EnglishWorks English course, focuses in develop and improve in its students the ability to communicate in English, using the tourism context as the trigger to generate conversation. To achieve this goal it is imperative that the students have many opportunities to listen and speak English.
The listening and speaking opportunities are given to the students throughout the class, using the technological tools available in the classroom and the support of monitors and volunteers that are in class.
EnglishWorks is implemented in low income communities in the city of Rio, where the students rarely have the opportunity to interact with native and/or fluent speakers of English, for this reason we implemented the routine using skype to have one-to-one conversations between native/fluent speakers and the students, to practice the use of language they learned in class and go further in conversations if the student is ready for it.
The one-to-one conversation with native/fluent speakers of English, brings to the classes not only the contact with the use of language, but with different cultures.
The goal
The main goal of the skype volunteers project is to increase the opportunities to listen and speak English, the students will have during the EnglishWorks classes.
