The American School Foundation of Chiapas A.C. is a growing bilingual school located in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas, Mexico. We strive to provide an excellent education to our more than five hundred students from Day Care through High School.
We offer a rich educational program, structured upon well established curriculum guidelines from the Mexican Ministry of Education as well as those from California, USA at the Primary level, and affiliation with the UNAM at the High School level. With IB PYP Candidate status, we are a school which ensures a safe and thoughtful environment in which students are encouraged to grow as independent, respectful, responsible, and active citizens. We value constructivism and Multiple Intelligences as important components of the teaching/learning process. At ASFC, we promote a cooperative and friendly work environment.
ASFC is situated in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, the capital city of the beautiful state of Chiapas. Tuxtla is a fast growing, bustling city, alive with the vivid colors and energy of Mexico. Not far from the city are mountains, canyons, beaches, pyramids and the ocean, just waiting to be explored. Benefits and Compensation:
Upon arrival, new teachers will be picked up at the airport by an ASFC Representative
Monthly Salary: MX$9,500 (approximately MX$8,300 after taxes)
Monthly Rent: MX$3,500 after taxes
Government-issued medical insurance
Paid Christmas bonus (Aguinaldo)
Paid Christmas and Easter vacations
End of the Year Bonus MX$5,000
Sam’s Club membership
Basic Furniture for apartment
A cell phone provided for use during your contract (you must pay for minutes as you go)
Work visa expenses covered (approximately USD$380)
IB teacher training (Kindergarten and Primary teaching staff) and access to IB teacher resources)
Renewable One-year contract
*Salary and compensation is commensurate to the standard of living in Chiapas, Mexico.
General Qualifications:
Primary Teacher Candidates must be qualified, certified teachers with English as their native language who hold an Education degree and/or state teaching certification in Elementary or Early Childhood Education (or a diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care).
Middle/High School Candidates must have a degree in the area of English, Literature, Media Studies or a related topic and preferably two years of classroom teaching experience at the Middle/High School level.
All candidates must demonstrate:
- The desire and ability to work as part of a team
- A sense of creativity and wonder, a great amount of flexibility, and a good sense of humor!
-Ability to adapt to living and working in a developing country.
We are looking for teachers who are enthusiastic, reflective, and thoughtful educators with intercultural and universal values.
