Conversational English Instructors from the US and Canada Needed in Ukraine
American English Center is now accepting applications for September 2012 openings. We are looking for native English speakers from the US and Canada for 8- to 12-month contracts as conversational English instructors in eight different cities in central and eastern Ukraine.
Company Profile:
American English Center was formed in 1993 and is the largest English school in Ukraine. AEC currently employs over 50 North American instructors in eight cities: Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Mykolaiv, Odessa, and Zaporizhzhye.
AEC offers small classes of no more than 12 students. Our students are teenagers and adults ages twelve years and older; the majority are professionals in the 18-35 age range. Students receive grammar instruction from Ukrainian teachers and practice speaking skills with native English speakers.
We are looking for North Americans whose mother tongue is English, with the following skills and qualifications:
-3- or 4-year degree from an accredited US or Canadian college or university
-Ability to illustrate the use of grammar in conversational English
-Energy, enthusiasm, and creativity
-Willingness to teach at any of our 11 branches in central and eastern Ukraine
Teaching responsibilities:
-Teaching is primarily in 4-6 hour blocks at a fixed location, but corporate work may also be required
-26 standard student-contact hours per week, Sunday-Thursday
-Attendance at monthly staff meetings and one student progress report per 7-week period
-Each seven-week term is followed by one week of vacation due to student registration
Compensation:
-Approximately $1000 (USD) per month during the academic year (September-May), with the opportunity to earn additional income through bonuses and sometimes through additional corporate work paid at an hourly rate
-Teacher support services including airport pickup, apartment and roommate matching service with housing costs subsidized in many cases, free introductory Russian language tutoring, a mobile phone loaned to teachers, visa support, and other services
-AEC provides visa support, but the visa application fee and the cost of travel to and from Ukraine are the teacher’s responsibility
Training:
-Approximately 40 hours of training over a 7-10 day period to introduce new teachers to the AEC educational approach
-Consistent evaluations by a training manager and periodic trainings
-Teacher guides
