The University

The Department

The Academic Bridge Program provides English language courses to the University’s pre-baccalaureate students with the aim of helping students develop their linguistic ability to function effectively in an academic environment.

The program uses appropriate methodology and technology to prepare students so that they can function effectively in English medium studies at a tertiary level and at an internationally recognized standard. Students will also develop the competence in English language to function effectively in an increasingly bilingual environment, as leading members of the workforce and of the community. They will acquire the skills of independent lifelong learning.

The Opportunity

The Director of the Academic Bridge Program will provide leadership in the quality and development of the pre-baccalaureate language program across all campuses. The Director will work with the Assistant Provost (Student Life and Enrollment Management), fellow Academic Deans, and University staff to promote high academic standards in the design, delivery, and assessment of language instruction in the Academic Bridge Program. The successful incumbent will take the lead in the design and delivery of a program that meets the needs of the university and the UAE whilst ensuring that the program is internationally current and responsive to the needs of the UAE community. The incumbent also provides leadership in the development and implementation of Zayed University’s policies and procedures as they apply to students and faculty of the ABP.

The Requirements

Must possess M.A. in TESOL/linguistics or an M.A. in a closely related field and have a minimum of ten years’ teaching and managerial experience preferably at the adult or tertiary level or an equivalent combination of education, skills or experience.

Other essential requirements:

• Demonstrated strength in teaching and familiarity with pedagogical concepts.

• Leadership and administrative experience in an academic environment.

Preferred Requirements

• Experience leading a faculty development program

• Experience with curriculum design
