English Teachers Needed in Hong Kong

English Teachers (Hong Kong)

British Council Hong Kong is recruiting experienced, enthusiastic, dedicated teachers to join our teaching team.

The Hong Kong teaching centre is a large centre, teaching a range of very young learner, young learner and adult courses. All classrooms at our main centre are equipped with interactive whiteboards and we have tablet PCs available for use. We expect our teachers to incorporate the use of learning technologies into courses on a regular basis, and provide training and support to facilitate this.

Please note that due to operational requirements the work week for these posts will be from Wednesday to Sunday or Saturday to Wednesday (with a Monday to Tuesday or Thursday to Friday weekend).

To be considered, you should be able to demonstrate good professional skills, be experienced in teaching young learners in addition to adults and keen on committing to further professional training. We provide a range of development opportunities, including in-service training, a job shadowing scheme, a mentoring scheme, a bursary for staff undertaking relevant training, and self-access study materials.

Degree and TEFL qualified (i.e. Cambridge CELTA/Trinity CertTESOL), you have at least two years post-certificate relevant teaching experience gained from a variety of age groups and levels. You should also be a highly proficient speaker of English with extensive young learner and adult teaching experience and having a qualification to teach young learners such as the YL extension to CELTA (or equivalent) would be an advantage.

The successful post holders will receive a relocation package including flights from the UK (or equivalent location) to Hong Kong, baggage allowance, settling-in allowance and medical insurance. Salary is paid in local HKD currency and ranges from HK$21,301 to HK$ 27,793 (30-hour contract) or HK$24,852 to HK$ 32,425 (35-hour contract) per month. Starting point on the scale depends on your qualifications and experience.
