The school is located in the small seaside city of Magong, in Penghu. Magong is the only city in the Penghu archipelago and you can find almost everything you need here. The locals are relaxed and friendly and it's a great place to immerse yourself in Taiwanese culture and language. Not only are Penghu's pristine beaches and rocky coasts fit for snorkeling, windsurfing, fishing, diving and more, it has scores of beautiful islands for you to visit. It's windy in winter and hot and sunny in summer. The cost of living in very low and you have the opportunity to involved in community activities and enjoy the great outdoors.
Please take that into consideration that this is a small somewhat isolated place where few people speak English and it is very windy in winter! Life in Penghu suits someone who is outgoing, independent and understanding of cultural differences. The position details:
1 year contract
ARC provided
Salary is NTD550-600 per hour depending on experience
14 guaranteed teaching hours per week with the possibility of more in the future
No set required office hours - prepare lessons in your own time before class
Working hours generally fall between 2pm-8:30pm Monday - Friday (with the occasional activity on the weekend)
Paid Holidays include Chinese New Year (approx. 1 week in Jan or Feb) + other national public holidays
Accommodation available at school is rented to teachers for reduced rate
The School:
The school environment is friendly and welcoming with great staff and students. There are currently 4 Taiwanese English teachers and three foreign teachers. The school focuses on teaching practical English to pre-school through to elementary school age. There are also various other classes including adult and high school students. We have a well developed curriculum that aims to cover not only speaking and listening but also reading and writing.

Teachers are required to have:
a Bachelors degree from a recognized University
a passport from either US, Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa
experience working with young people
a professional attitude and open mind
We are looking for an outgoing, friendly, co-operative, flexible teacher who has the ability to teach pre-school - adult levels with a high level of enthusiasm and dedication. This job requires a strong commitment to the school and students and we expect our teachers to go the extra mile, while hoping we can offer them an enjoyable place to work and grow as a teacher.
