Teach Primary & Secondary School Students in Tropical North Sumatra!
Singapore International Academy (SIA) is looking for energetic, enthusiastic and diligent English teachers to work with our expanding school.
Working alongside other specialist subject teachers, you will provide a holistic English learning experience for Primary and lower-grade Secondary students.
The successful applicant will be a native speaker (UK, USA, Australia, NZ, Canada) and should hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in English, and a teaching certificate (TEFL, CELTA or equivalent). Previous teaching experience is a definite advantage but first-time teachers will be considered on merit.
The school offers a very competitive package, including a monthly salary, shared teaching housing or housing allowance, annual flight money, end-of-year bonus, basic health insurance and a monthly food and transportation allowance.
We are actively searching for teachers at Pre-School, Primary and Secondary level, with a target start date of June/July 2012.
The school is now in its 7th year and is rapidly expanding, incorporating Pre-School (playgroup to Kindergarten 2), Primary (Grades 1-6) and the new Secondary Grade 7 and 8 classes.
Over these 7 years, we have built a solid reputation for producing well-rounded, confident and independent students who are not only proficient in their studies but also possess the capability and desire to display their skills in the real world.
Somewhat a city of contrasts where old and new, urban and rural, and rich and poor exist side-by-side, Medan can be likened to a collection of smaller village-like communities as opposed to a sprawling metropolis of a city. Its charm lies in its simplicity and its modesty whilst mod-cons and home comforts can be found just as easily as the authentic flavours, styles and cultures of the Eastern World.
Medan also acts as a gateway to some of the most jaw-dropping natural wonders South-East Asia has to offer: Bukit Lawang boasts wild orang utans and a quaint village setting to enjoy the thrills of a free-flowing jungle river; Lake Toba, the world’s largest volcanic lake, is a blissful solitude of tranquillity and calm; Pulau Weh boasts some of the most pristine beaches and most productive snorkelling and diving in the region; Nias is a cultural and historical Aladdin’s Cave whilst also boasting legendary surf; Tangkahan is the ultimate jungle getaway where you can wind down from an elephant ride with a cool dip in the river as you bathe the ‘nellies’; whilst the sleepy lifestyles and bracing mountain air of Berastagi present an ideal weekend getaway and opportunity to explore an active volcano.
To submit your application and for more details on this exciting post and other opportunities within our school, please send a covering letter, recent CV/resume (including at least 2 references) and recent photo to firstname.lastname@example.org.
