Responsibilities
• Teaching across a range of levels, ages, and courses
• Average teaching hours: normally scheduled at 15-23 hours per week (depending on contract). Classes run from 7:30am to 9:45pm Monday through Friday; 7:45 am to 8:15pm on Saturday and 7:45am to 6pm on Sunday. Split shifts are sometimes inevitable, though they are avoided where possible.
• Planning student-centered and participative lessons while following a designated syllabus
• Administering and marking mid- and end-of-level tests
• Writing student reports
• Conducting placement testing
• Participating in professional development activities, such as attendance at training sessions and peer and senior observations among other things
• Teaching off-site classes, as required
• Participating in out-of-class activities, as required
• Behaving in an appropriately professional and supportive manner
Qualifications:
Essential requirements for all teaching positions
• Native English speaker
• CELTA / Trinity TESOL / IHC*
• BA or MA*
• Clean criminal record check ( with validity within 3 months)*
• Satisfactory references
• Adaptability, flexibility, and cultural sensitivity
*Original document necessary for work permit requirements; photocopies will not be accepted
Desirable requirements for all teaching positions
• At least one year’s experience or CELTA pass B (or equivalent)
• Experience teaching young learner classes, from kindy through teens
• Experience teaching exam preparation classes, particularly IELTS and TOEFL
• Cambridge oral examiner
• Experience teaching business English preferred
Compensation:
Contractual benefits of working for Apollo
• Salary: 1085 USD – 1840 USD (before tax) per month, depending on qualifications, experience and hours worked – salary and benefits paid in Vietnamese Dong.
Overtime payment ( most teachers teach 5- 7 hours per week over time ), incentive bonus, IELTS and cooperate teaching are paid more $2 – 3$ per hours and more attractive bonus to come Tax is payable on a sliding scale, most teachers pay 10-13 %
• Relocation Bonus: up to 500 USD (before tax) per year
• Bonus: $1450+ per annum (including $500 end-of-contract bonus and monthly incentive bonuses)
• Business visas arranged by Apollo for the duration of the contract
• Work permit assistance:
o All work permit costs incurred in Vietnam are reimbursed by Apollo (receipts required)
o A medical check, done locally, is also required. Apollo will assist in getting this done and cover related costs.
