English Teachers Needed in Hong Kong

The British Council is the United Kingdom’s international organisation for educational opportunities and cultural relations.

English Teachers (Hong Kong and Malaysia)

We are recruiting for experienced, enthusiastic and dedicated teachers to join our teaching centres in Hong Kong and Malaysia (Penang).

As a member of the teaching centre, you will strive to deliver high quality English language teaching that meets the needs of different customer groups and individual learning styles to enhance the British Council’s reputation as a world authority in ELT.

These positions would be especially suited to those wishing to work in dynamic team environments and who are looking to develop professionally. As we are committed to continuing professional development, there are opportunities for teachers to participate in INSETTs, receive funding for a DELTA and gain intensive YL training.

To be considered for one of these posts, you should have

• a high proficiency in English
• a first degree
• an internationally-recognised TEFL- I (i.e. CELTA or Trinity CertTESOL) or TEFL- Q (DELTA or Trinity DipTESOL) qualification
• at least two years of post-certificate full-time relevant EFL teaching experience across all age groups especially young learners
• good customer service and strong team-working skills
• a qualification to teach English to young learners (i.e. CELTYL) would be an advantage

The British Council can offer an excellent package for the right candidate, including flights from the UK (or equivalent location) to post, baggage allowance, settling-in allowance and medical insurance. Salaries and benefits differ depending on the country that you are applying for and the starting point on the scale depends on your qualifications and experience. These posts are contracted for two years and are renewable.

The posts in Hong Kong start on 27 March 2012. The posts in Penang start on 1 April 2012.
