Maple Leaf International School, located in Matsusaka City, Mie Prefecture, is currently accepting applications for 1 Preschool Teacher to start from October. We are looking for positive, hard working, professional teachers who are dedicated to the education of young children.

We are a private International School focusing on students between the ages of 2 to 6. The main area of focus of our school is our Preschool Immersion program, where children are taught an array of subjects in English 5 days a week from 3 to 5 hours a day. We also have English conversation classes that students, who attend a Japanese preschool, attend once a week.

As we are a private school, our school has a strong focus on customer service, and we prefer teachers who enjoy and are good at speaking and working with customers (The student's parents).

The school houses 4 preschool classrooms as well as an adult classroom, staff office, and waiting room for customers. We have a playground on site, and are walking distance to 2 large parks, which we use for field trips. The school is filled with resources and materials for teachers to use.

About Matsusaka
Maple Leaf International School is located in Matsusaka City, Mie Prefecture. Matsusaka is about 1 hour south of Nagoya and 1.5 hours northeast of Osaka. There is a population of about 170,000 people, spread over an area of 623 square kms.

About the position

Contract
The start date for this position is April 3rd
Orientation takes place on April 3rd and 4th
Training is conducted from April 5th until the 20th
The contract is until March 31st 2014

Working Hours:
Monday to Friday 8:30~5:30
Maximum of 25 teaching hours per week
Preschool course lessons occur every day and are 9:00-12:00
Afternoon lesson occur 4 times a week and are 90 minutes each from 3:30-5:00

Teachers teach the same children every lesson, and only would be required to teach different children if substituting.

Salary:
250,000~300,000 yen per month based on skills and experience with raises based on performance. Compensation reviewed twice a year during performance reviews and regular raises given to top performers.

Bonuses:
1 autumn bonus and 1 Spring bonus based on performance

Requirements:
Applicants must have experience working with children. A degree in an education related field, or a teaching certification is an asset. Conversational Japanese preferred. Teaching and living in Japan experience also preferred.

Responsibilities include:
-Teaching multiple subjects to children between the ages 3-4 years old in the preschool course (Teachers are assigned to the same students until they graduate at 6 years old)
-Teaching children aged 3 to 6 in the afternoon English conversation courses
-Assisting in toilet training children in the preschool course (if necessary)
-Changing diapers (if necessary)
-Supervising children during playtime
-Writing lesson plans and reports
-Creating teaching materials
-Communicating with parents
-Participating in Spring and Summer School programs
-Participating in school events such as sports day, Open School, Halloween Parade etc
-Participating in school and class field trips
-Attending staff meetings
-Basic classroom and school maintenance and upkeep

Accommodation:
Teachers have the option of staying in a partially furnished company apartment (52,000-56,000yen per month). Accommodations are modern, 1 or 2 bedroom apartments and are roughly 40-50 meters squared (430-540 feet squared).
Accommodations are not shared with other teachers
No key money or deposit is necessary.

-5 days during Golden Week (May)
-5 days during Obon (August)
-12 days during Winter Break
-4 days during Spring Break

Use of school computer (each preschool staff is assigned a laptop computer)

Step 4- You will send us 3 lesson plans on actual lessons we conduct at our school
Step 4- We will conduct a webcam interview where you will demonstrate one of your lessons. In-country applicants are asked to have face-to-face interviews.
Step 5- If you have been offered a position and accepted it, we begin the visa process as well as send you useful documentation for your new life in Japan!
