The Japan Exchange and Teaching ProgramThe Japan Exchange and Teaching Program (JET) - various locations
The Japan Exchange and Teaching Program (JET) is Japan's oldest and most reputable program for bringing young professionals from 39 countries around the world to work full-time in Japan, primarily as language instructors. With JET, you can gain work experience abroad and explore a rich and historical culture, while receiving excellent benefits -- including a comfortable salary, pre-departure training, round-trip airfare to Japan, health insurance, and more. The available positions, which will begin in July or August 2012, are Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) and Coordinator for International Relations (CIR).
All majors are welcome to apply! Knowing Japanese or having teaching experience is not required to apply for the JET Program but a genuine interest in teaching and working with students, as well as an interest in learning about Japan is a must. You must be a US citizen with a bachelor's degree by July 1, 2012, in order to be eligible for this year's program.
