We are Hong Kong's vocational education, training and professional development group. Our Group member institutions are known today for the breadth and diversity of learning opportunities that they make available to some 230,000 students of all ages and abilities from pre-employment education to in-service professional development. Our teachers are committed to fostering interactive and creative learning environments where everyone can shine.
We are looking for native-speaking English candidates to take up teaching positions as Lecturer or Teaching Associate in Hong Kong under our Native-speaking English Teacher (NET) Scheme.
(a) perform teaching duties, including supervision of students’ projects
(b) carry out duties in relation to student and academic administration;
(c) organize campus-wide extra-curricular English activities for students;
(d) develop courses curriculum and teaching/learning/assessment materials;
(e) implement the VTC’s quality assurance policy; and
(f) participate in departmental projects and functions, including research studies, seminars and exhibitions, where necessary.
(a)The applicant should be a native-speaker of English (English being the person’s native language) or possess native-speaker’s competence;
(b) A relevant recognized degree or equivalent* (eg. English Language/Language Studies or Linguistics (Majoring in English)/English Literature/English & Communication/Translation (English subject)), preferably with post-graduate qualifications;
(b) With at least three years’ relevant teaching experience#, but candidates with less experience may be considered for the post of Teaching Associate; and
(c)Good interpersonal, communication, presentation and facilitation skills.
* Applicants with a recognized degree in a non-relevant field but a relevant English-teaching qualification may also apply. Such relevant English-teaching qualification includes Postgraduate Certificate in Education (Majoring in English), Certificate in Teaching English To Speakers of Other Languages with assessed practicum (eg. CELTA, English-teaching certification recognized by TESL Canada, Trinity CertTESOL), English for Specific Purposes (ESP)).
# The three years’ relevant teaching experience should be teaching of English subject at the level of Grade 10 or Form 4 or above on full-time basis.
1.The monthly salaries, depending on qualifications and experience, are
Lecturer: Around HK$34,000
Teaching Associate: Around HK$20,000
2. Initial appointment will be on a 2-year contract from end August 2012.
Renewal thereafter is subject to service need and performance review.
3.Employees may receive service pay and performance pay at the Council’s discretion.
1.Medical insurance will be provided.
2.Staff quarters in Chai Wan (on shared accommodation basis), passage and baggage allowance will be provided for eligible appointees whose current/normal place of residence is outside Hong Kong.

Shortlisted applicants are required to attend an interview and a written test in Hong Kong.
Partial Travelling Expenses will be reimbursed up to HK$1,000 for eligible candidates traveling to Hong Kong from overseas for interview.
