Hello! My name is Kate I have been teaching at GKI school since October 2012. It's a good school with a large English-speaking staff. There are 20 native speakers (all Americans and Canadians), and the Korean staff is approachable and helpful. Our apartments are 5-10 minutes walking distance from GKI School. The neighborhood is nice, and it's easy to take a bus or the subway to Coex Mall, Lotte World, and other interesting places. We're also walking distance from Olympic Park, which is beautiful! I am very happy that I chose to work at GKI.
My name is Michael, and I have been teaching in Korea since August 2011. I have seen many hagwons during my time here, and I'd say GKI is solidly above average. The school is stable with a steady stream of students enrolling into the program. Here the staff and Korean co teachers are respectful and they are genuinely focused on working with foreign teachers to help the students improve their English and test scores. They care for the staff with daily meals and snacks, above average pay (for the hagwon industry), and even short birthday parties between breaks are provided. Another perk provided by the school is the granting of a month vacation (unpaid, but with free roundtrip tickets) if the teacher choose to remain teaching after completing their first contract. All these factors combined I am happy to work with GKI. Also please refer to Kate's post above regarding the location of the school.
