Teach in Colombia - 5 Month Contracts - June Start


We are recruiting NOW! for graduates to teach English in Colombia in non-profit organisations. Candidates should be enthusiastic, friendly, hard working, social, adaptable, flexible, motivated and able to work independently.

Essential Requirements

• Native English Speaker or Non-native English speaker C1 certified

• Degree in any discipline

• Professional

• Aged between 21 and 55

• Mentally and physically able to teach adults and children

• Mature, flexible, accountable and able to demonstrate commitment

• Clean criminal record

• Able to provide references

Desirable

• Travel experience or living in another country, especially in Latin America.

• Basic level of Spanish

• TESOL/TEFL preferred but not essential

Job Outline

Role:Co-teacher

Activities: English class, conversation clubs, coaching to teachers.

Students: Schools kids, teenagers and/or adults. Primarily teaching students aged 14 to 20. Workshops with children from all ages.

Teaching Schedule

* Monday through Friday

* 25 hours of teaching-related activities

* 15 additional hours on site: lesson planning, meetings with fellow teachers, workshops, etc.

Monthly stipend: COP 1,500,000 in monthly stipends. Stipends will be paid after each month of volunteering is completed

Deposit: $400 deposit required. Refundable upon completing the program.

Colombian health insurance: A local health insurance will be provided by local partner

Airfare: Covered by participants, required to confirm placement

Housing: First month of housing will be provided by local partner. After the first month teachers are responsible for finding and paying for their own housing.

Visa: Covered by participant. Will be deducted from first stipend payment.

Identification card, bank account set up: Covered by the program. The volunteer will be responsible for all applicable management costs and fees for their bankcards.

Bonus: COP 1,500,000 after successfully completing the program. Volunteers who leave the program earlier will not receive the final bonus

Arrival date: June 21st, 2015 (later intake in December 2015 also)

Holidays: Approximately 3 holiday weeks. No days off except those officially included in the program schedule. Exceptions to this will be made in the case of extreme health or family issues that may arise.

Orientation logistics: 2 week orientation in Bogotá. Lodging and food will be provided. No stipend will be given during orientation.

Orientation content: TEFL training, cultural orientation

Cities Acacias, Armenia, Baranoa, Barranquilla, Bogota, Bucaramanga, Cali, Cartagena, Chiquinquira, Cucuta, Envigado, Girardot, Ibaque, Leticia, Manizales, Marinilla, Medellin, Monteria, Pasto, Pensilvania, Pereira, Piedecuesta, Popayan, Rionegro, Riosucio, San Jeronimo, Santa Marta, Sincelejo, Tunja, Villavicencio.
