Key Role:

Assist the program manager, ELT coordinator, and ELTS with effective and consistent delivery of the American Language Course (ALC) curricula from the Defense Language Institute (DLI), maintain a cross-culturally sensitive and supportive classroom environment, and engage, exercise, and assess the clients' developing communicative competence in linguistic, sociolinguistic, discourse, and strategic to support the military's needs and goals. Diagnose and recommend tutorial support from an ELTS for the functional aspects of language that are noticeably weak in students' test results and assignments. Identify and report gaps or limitations to the ELT coordinator in curriculum delivery, program materials, and educational technology and explore English for Occupational Purposes (EOP) and English for Specific Purposes (ESP] with students to incentivize objectives for reaching advanced levels of English language proficiency. Participate in relevant professional development opportunities by networking with experts through national and international associations.

Basic Qualifications:

-3+ years of experience as an ELT or ESP instructor to adults

-Experience with instructing students in a military program

-Ability to provide creative classroom delivery in a well-managed classroom

-Ability to speak English fluently

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-BA or BS degree in ESL or EFL

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with English for the specific purposes or relevant occupational English specializations

-Experience as a language program director, curriculum coordinator, or technology or language lab specialist

-Experience with or service for the US Navy or other Armed Forces

-Ability to show an expertise with conversational or formal written Arabic

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

-MA or MS degree in TESOL, TESL, TEFL, Applied Linguistics or Sociolinguistics, International Education, Foreign Language education, or a closely related field a plus

-TESOL Certification from accredited, US academic, or residential program, including CELTA, Trinity TESOL, LTCL. Dip. TESOL, or DELTA

-Academic minor or Certification from accredited higher education institution in Military Science, Language Management, or International Relations
