Female IT Teachers - Al Wajh

Do you want to teach in the beautiful coastal region of North West Saudi Arabia? We have a unique opportunity for female IT tutors with an interest in international education to start teaching on 29 March 2015. Mondragon Educacion Internacional (MEI, Spain) partnered with Wintec (New Zealand) are operating one female and two male vocational and technical Colleges in Al Wajh and Umluj.

You must have a degree in Information Technology / Computer Science, a Certificate in TESOL or equivalent and a minimum 3 years IT teaching experience. If you are not a native English speaker you will need a minimum IELTS score of 6.5. Ideally you have worked in the Middle East teaching younger and adult learners with very low levels of English. This role is one year fixed term with a yearly option of renewal, teaching in the classroom approximately 24-26 hours per week. These are single status positions, offering 16,000 SAR per month, annual flights home, healthcare insurance, and provision of transport and accommodation on a shared basis.

Al Wajh is a small coastal town on the Red Sea where fishing is a primary activity of the town's residents. The accommodation is spacious, sharing with several other staff and there are teachers from both the female and the male colleges living in the building. There is a gym available for your use and a great rooftop with beautiful sea views which is used for events and staff get-togethers. The college is just a 10 min drive from the accommodation and just a 150m walk to the beach, with a park where local families gather to relax in the evenings.

The colleges opened in September 2014 and we are therefore looking for someone that is resilient, tolerant and prepared to go above and beyond the call of duty to get things done. You will need to pitch in and help out willingly, even sometimes if it’s outside your own role. It is a challenging environment, particularly for women, but it is extremely rewarding seeing the progress of your young students.
