EFL Teaching Position at The American Language Center – Tangier

ALC Tangier is currently accepting applications from qualified, native speakers of English with US, Canadian, UK, New Zealand, Irish or Australian citizenship for the academic year, Oct. 2015 – June 2016. Candidates must have EFL teaching experience, hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited university and a CELTA, Trinity CertTESOL or equivalent 120-hour, classroom-based TEFL certification course that includes practical teaching; at least one year of overseas teaching experience is highly recommended. The term of employment is 9 months with the possibility of renewal.

Candidates must be able to effectively implement student-centered, performance-based communicative teaching strategies using pair- and group-work; an ability to use class time efficiently and maintain a reasonably low ratio of teacher talk time is also required.

A full time position entails 21-24 contact hours per 5- or 6-day workweek. Classes may include children’s, young adolescent or adult groups, specialized English classes (e.g. Business English, TOEFL Prep) and extra-curricular clubs.

Teachers are paid hourly at locally competitive rates. Full time wages allow teachers to live in modest comfort on a budget. ALC Tangier provides assistance obtaining a work contract and residency. Basic health insurance and a relocation allowance are offered.
