URGENT ACADEMIC DIRECTOR NEEDED IN PIMENTEL/CHICLAYO, PERU

Academia Superior-Idiomas (ASI) is seeking a motivated, certified Academic Director capable of meeting our high standards for our new English education program. ASI offers a two-year regular program; a 3 1/2 year weekend program; and a course for children from families who cannot typically afford English classes. The program began in December 2013 and since then has grown to consist of 4-7 teachers and 40-60 students each month.

The Academic Director of the English Department will:

•Evaluate and provide professional development opportunities for new teachers

•Hire additional teachers as needed

•Create monthly course schedules as well as teacher and classroom assignments

•Oversee the creation of the i-House textbooks, workbooks, and exams

•Take part in the marketing efforts

•Teach and/or substitute classes as needed

•Develop and/or refine program policies

The Academic Director is expected to commit to at least one year. The first three months are unpaid. After the initial three-month period, the Director can negotiate a salary. The Director also will receive free housing in one of the ASI residences and free intensive Spanish courses for the first three months (up to 240 hours).

We are located in Pimentel, Peru, a small beach town 25 minutes away from Chiclayo, the fourth largest city in Peru. Pimentel and Chiclayo are a bus ride away from nearby historical and cultural sites and other cities including Chachapoyas, Cajamarca, and Trujillo. Position Requirements

Skills / Industry Qualifications Required:

• TEFL/TESOL/CELTA Certification

• At least one year teaching experience

• Native English Speaker

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word
