Teacher Trainers / Facilitators Urgently Needed in Malaysia


Due to the allocation of extra clusters we are in urgent need of two additional facilitators to work as teacher trainers/facilitators on an initiative by the Malaysian Ministry of Education to upgrade the proficiency of English amongst the English teachers in Malaysia. Successful candidates should be ready to start work before the end of March 2015.

The contract is due to be completed in September 2015 and while we have no guarantee of extension beyond this point, there is every prospect that the contract will be extended and that there will be opportunities to work on this or similar contracts after this date.

Selected teachers who are considered to be B2 level on the CEFR will attend regular training with the aim of upskilling to C1 by the end of the course. This will be achieved by the teachers taking time out of their regular teaching commitments to spend one day each week to attend special face to face training sessions. In addition the participants will be expected to complete an equivalent amount of time using online training materials.

Training will be conducted in specialist training centres and the trainer/facilitator will be expected to instruct approximately 100 teachers spread over 4 days in a working week. You will be provided with transportation to move from one centre to another or an allowance that will cover the travel expenses incurred.

Requirements of candidates are as follows:

Academic Qualification: A degree in English / TESL / TEFL / ELT

Candidates with degrees in other disciplines need an appropriate ESL training qualification such as TESL / CELTA / Trinity Diploma etc. or a MA in TESL / TEFL etc or Applied Linguistics

Candidates must have a personal English Language Proficiency level of at least C1. Verification of this proficiency may be required.

Candidates must have a minimum of Five years English language teaching experience, some of which should include experience in English Language teacher training

Preference will be given to those who have a proven record of having conducted in-house training for ELT Lecturers, or conducted professional development courses for school teachers and or experience in authoring materials and resources for English Language teaching.

In addition to the academic and experiential credentials it is essential that candidates display the soft skills required to deal with adult learners which may be especially pertinent to helping students who may be struggling or reluctant. Trainers / facilitators must be able to adapt and understand the cultural context of working in Malaysia.

Our team is almost complete but we require an additional twofacilitators who will be located on peninsular Malaysia. A generous remuneration package is available with a salary of RM10,000 per month, along with allowances for housing, travel, medical insurance air fares, bonuses etc.
