Volunteer Teaching Opportunities in Honduras

Rare Teaching Opportunities ( http://www.artforhumanity.org/tlc ) available beginning in July of 2014. ESL Certified teachers, and also English teachers willing to teach other subjects are needed. Enjoy the beautiful climate and atmosphere of teaching and living on an organic coffee farm high in the mountains where is it always springtime. Also enjoy the fact that you are helping those in need. Students come from poor families and study with full scholarships with all necessities provided including medical. The mission of The Leadership Center is to educate, train, and develop the future ethical leaders of Honduras, and we accomplish this by providing educational opportunities to poor Hondurans who would not otherwise be able to attend a college or university.

This is a residential college in a very peaceful and safe location. Although only two hours from the capital, the setting is extremely remote with no public electricity or water. We generate electricity with solar and wind and have our own water purification system. We grow some of our food organically. In addition to gardens and fruit trees, we have chickens that provide our eggs. Although this is a college, because of the educational system in Honduras, most classes are taught at a U.S. high school level. Our student teacher ratio is normally about 5 to 1.

While this is a volunteer opportunity, room and board is provided. We are vegetarian friendly. In exchange for teaching, we provide room, meals, linens, toiletries and sometimes shoes and clothing. You may use your teaching materials or ours. Singles and couples are welcomed. Non-smokers preferred.
