WANTED: Native Volunteer EFL Teacher (6-month commitment) in Chilamate

The Sarapiquí Conservation Learning Center in Costa Rica is currently looking for a new volunteer English teacher to begin immediately in January 2015. Located on the beautiful Sarapiquí River, the SCLC depends on long-term volunteers to run its well-known EFL program. The EFL program was originally developed to satisfy the demand of the community to be able to compete in the current job market.

Volunteers who commit to coordinate the program and participate in the operations of the Center for a minimum of six months will be provided with a private room in a local family's home, three meals a day, laundry service and a bike for transport in the area.

Job Description:

-post fliers to advertise the EFL course and its registration period throughout the local area

-manage and coordinate the registration process, including administering entrance exams to new students to determine appropriate levels for registrants

-create a schedule of classes of various levels based on student demand

-plan lessons based on a curriculum established by the national university and the Interchange textbooks

-evaluate students' progress throughout the semester

-write monthly reports about program outcomes and challenges

Job Requirements:

-Native English speaker (please do not apply if you are not a native English speaker)

-TEFL/TESOL certification, CELTA certification or equivalent

-Willing to teach evenings and occasionally work 3 hours in reception on Saturday mornings
