3 Female ESL Interns Needed in Isla Mujeres

The Secretary of Education and Culture of the state of Quintana Roo, Mexico (SEyC) has teamed up with VolunQuest to recruit 3 female interns to work as ESL teachers in the public primary schools of Isla Mujeres, as well as train to be supervisors for VolunQuest's volunteer teachers. This is a unique opportunity to be trained in PNIEB, the national English curriculum in Mexico and to gain valuable teaching hours in public, accredited, federal schools in Latin America.

This internship is not paid. Housing is provided free of charge, which includes all utilities including wifi. The house is a three bedroom, fully furnished house with all of the comforts of home. It is located mid island and is easily accessible to all of the schools and VolunQuest's offices. Each supervisor has their own private bedroom and bathroom along with a common kitchen, living room, dining room, and outdoor patio. All teaching materials are provided and paid for. Access to the teacher's lounge and library are available 24 hours to volunteer supervisor interns. Evening tutoring can be arranged with hotels and private school children to earn more than sufficient spending cash. Airfare and transportation to and from Isla Mujeres is the responsibility of the intern. Meals and transportation daily are about 10-15 USD if you eat out, cheaper if you buy groceries and use the kitchen to prepare your meals in your house and purchase a bicycle. The house is shared with three female interns.

We are looking for people with at least a bachelor's degree in a related field, 6 months of teaching experience, highly motivated, self starter, good writing skills, some basic Spanish, creative, loves to work with children, high energy, desire to explore new cultures, works well in a team and that has a strong sense of service to the community.
