Unique Teaching Experience in Phan Rang

Job Description

Unique Teaching Experience in Phan Rang

We have 2 openings for teachers in the beautiful beach town of Phan Rang. Teachers will be working at several local secondary schools in the city and will be responsible for helping the students learn to use (speaking/listening/pronunciation) the English they have been studying with their Vietnamese Teachers. The students at these schools have a great appetite for learning English and they are very interested in interacting with a 'Western' teacher and learning about Western culture.

These schools have never had a foreign Teacher before, so you will have to work closely with the Vietnamese English teachers to provide the lesson plans and implementation of the program. Teachers will need to make lesson plans and we will supply you with the program outline for the lesson plans. Flexibility will be key in this position as it is a new program for the schools and issues will have to be dealt with along the way, but this will also make this an extremely rewarding program for the right teacher.

Phan Rang City

Has a population of about 100,000 in the main city. It is a pleasant departure from the constant bustle of HCMC or Hanoi. It is very clean (by Vietnamese standards) and easy to navigate as there is very little traffic even at rush hour, the air is clean and the overall pace of life is much slower than the bigger cities in Vietnam. The main attraction of course is the beautiful beaches about 5 minutes away from the city and fresh sea food is severed on almost every street corner. Naturally the cost of living is much lower than Hanoi/HCMC but night life and western fast food restaurants are almost non-existent.
Ho Chi Minh City is about 6 hours away by night-train ($25 for a 2-way ticket) and there is a range of local and tourist buses that can take you to other hotspots in Vietnam, Mui Nhe and Nha Trang being several hours away.

How to apply: (Start Date is mid-January 2015)

Please email the following documents. (Never send hard copies or your original documents until you have signed a contact or met with the school face to face).

CV/Resume: Tidy up and update your resume; and get a couple of references.

Keep it clear and simple. Remember that some of the people who will read it are not native speakers, so keep the language simple and highlight *relevant* experience.

Scan of your passport information page and current visa page. Check your current passport has at least 18 months before expiry left on it.

WHY? This allows us and the school to verify that the information on your CV and passport match. Also the schools will use this to make up the contract once you have been offered a position.

Scan of your TESOL/CELTA/Degree. The better the documentation here, the better your chance of landing that job. Colour scans are preferable, but if not black and white is fine.

Add a photo to your CV/Resume.. professional head shot or passport photo is fine. WHY? Photos on CV/Resumes is the norm in Vietnam and most of Asia. Schools want to see who they are working with and often want to check for what they consider 'strange' tattoos and piercings (These will make a job harder to get but not impossible).

If you don't already have it, download ‘Skype’; you’ll need this for the initial interview/s.
