ESL/ESOL Lecturer for new Martial Arts College in Zurich, Switzerland

We are a new College offering accredited Bachelor and Master degrees in Teaching Martial Arts like Taijiquan, Qigong, Taekwondo, Judo and other Martial Arts-related disciplines to an international student audience from all over Europe. The curriculum includes practical training (physical exercises), historical-cultural aspects of the various Martial Art styles, Martial Arts Pedagogy (Didactics and Methodology), Sociology, Psychology, Western and Traditional Chinese Medicine as well as basic language instruction in Korean, Japanese, and Chinese. English as a Second/Foreign Language is an important minor in the curriculum as future graduates are expected to work in an international setting as Martial Arts instructors after graduation.

We wish to appoint a full-time ESL/ESOL Lecturer who meets the following minimum requirements:

- native or near-native level English speaker,

- balanced, mature and student-oriented personality

- M.A. degree in English with a focus on Linguistics and/or ESL/ESOL teaching

- acquaintance with modern standard language teaching technology

- at least three years of practical teaching experience in a university setting

- acquaintance with Martial Arts and its technical terminology preferred

The weekly teaching load will be 8 hours plus grading student work and student counseling, class preparation, committee and faculty meetings. Appointment will be initially for a contract period of one calendar year with the option of prolongation under mutual consent.
