Location: Tenerife (La Laguna, Santa Cruz), Gran Canaria (Las Palmas)

Due to our continued expansion we are looking to recruit qualified and experienced English language teachers to join our team of committed professionals already on board.

Role Overview:

As an English language teacher, you will teach groups organized by level according to the Common European Framework of Reference, as well as plan lessons and attend training sessions. In addition, you will be required to take part in ongoing student evaluation and formal assessment. Your role will also include the setting and marking of homework as appropriate, maintaining student records and providing feedback to students and the academy regarding the course(s) you are responsible for. You may be teaching young learners or adults or a mixture of both.

Candidate Profile:

• English native speaker, qualified in teaching (TESOL or CELTA qualified)

• Minimum 2 years teaching/monitoring experience with children´s groups

• Teaching experience with adults

• Knowledge about the CEFR and its practical applications

• Knowledge of Cambridge Exam syllabus

• Knowledge of second language acquisition, techniques for teaching English, basic principles of evaluation and learner diversity

• A genuine interest in teaching, education and self-development

• Willingness to commit from Sept/Oct 2014 – May 2015 with the option of long-term cooperation

• CLIL qualification and/or previous experience preferred

Responsibilities:

• To plan and deliver lessons to children and/or adults, in both one-on-one sessions and group classes

• To work with books towards exams and lead freer ´Action English´ classes

• To plan lessons and learning units, using a task-based approach, to meet curriculum standards set by CEFR and to meet students’ needs / requirements

• To design learning experiences/ tasks that take account of the key concepts, principles and theories as well as the Language Campus Methodology

• To evaluate student progress and provide ongoing feedback and guidance for improvement

• To use CEFR criteria reliably to assess students´ language proficiency

• To fulfill all teaching administrative duties as outlined in the Teacher´s Manual

• To use electronic media and course material to teach English efficiently and effectively

• To identify, select and modify learning resources to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs

• To provide a model of professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, colleagues, parents, and community

• To meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as: meeting deadlines, honouring schedules, starting and ending classes on time

• To prepare students for lifelong learning by encouraging them to explore learning opportunities and to persevere with challenging tasks

• To encourage learner autonomy and maximise learner participation at all times

• To practise reflection and self-evaluation as the norm and base future planning on such reflection.
