Fall Placements for Teachers in Hungary

The Central European Teaching Program has several remaining conversational English positions for September. All are in certified public or parochial schools—the majority elementary but with a smattering of high schools and one preschool/kindergarten.

Our schools are located throughout Hungary in cities, towns and villages. A bachelor’s degree plus TEFL certification is required (a basic 40-hour online course is sufficient) but a degree in education and/or state certification are truly valued.

Bilingual High Schools:

1. A high school in the university city of Zalaegerszeg in SW Hungary close to the Austrian border

2. A high school and an elementary in Szerencs in eastern Hungary. Easy train connections to Budapest and elsewhere. These would be great placements for friends/partners who wish to teach in the same town

3. A high school in Kisvarda in NE Hungary close to the border with western Ukraine (and far from the fighting)

Bilingual Elementary Schools:

4. An elementary in pretty Nyirbator in NE Hungary and very convenient to Nyiregyhaza with express train service to Budapest and elsewhere

5. An elementary in Ebes on the outskirts of Hungary’s second largest city, Debrecen with express train service to Budapest and elsewhere

6. 2 elementary schools sharing one teacher in Hajduszoboszlo, a lively spa town in in NE Hungary very convenient to Debrecen

7. A Catholic elementary in Mako in SE Hungary and convenient to Szeged, a lovely university city

8. An elementary in Dorog very near Esztergom on Danube, close to Budapest

9. An elementary in Salgotarjan in north central Hungary close to the Slovak border

10. Nyirpazony, a pretty town established at the turn of the last century as the summer home for the wealthy of nearby Nyiregyhaza

11. An elementary in the village of Hernadnemeti paired with a school in the large city of Miskolc in northern Hungary with quick train service to Budapest.

12. A private elementary in Budapest for 1st and 2nd grade

13. A middle school in Budapest for certified math teacher (math major will be considered)

Bilingual Preschool/Kindergartens:

14. A private school in a village in the hills just above Budapest (Early education certification and/or degree required)

CETP is the oldest established organization placing ESL teachers in Hungary. Currently we serve 100 schools, the majority being elementary with a smattering of high schools and preschool/kindergartens. Most are public schools though a few are parochial schools.

Our first-year program fee for these remaining positions has been sharply reduced to $1500 for high schools, $1200 for elementary schools, and $1000 for placements split between two schools and the preschool/kindergarten. I assure you this is NOT a placement fee.
