ESL teaching position in October 2015

Honduras - Are you interested in combining your teaching skills with your passion and interest in helping poor and underprivileged students?

Are you interested in combining your teaching skills with your passion and interest in helping poor and underprivileged students? Are you interested in living in a rural peaceful community surrounded by beautiful landscape with waterfalls? Or are you interested in teaching in an environment where you have space to use your creativity and unique skills to equip young adults to become future leaders of their country? If so, then The Leadership Center may be a perfect fit for you.

The Leadership Center is currently looking to fill an ESL teaching position in October 2015, and another teaching position in early 2016. In addition to a small monthly stipend, room, board, basic medicines, toiletries, and other miscellaneous items are provided to all teachers. The Leadership Center is a residential campus, and all teachers live on campus as well. The campus is located on an organic coffee farm and is bordered by a beautiful river. Within an hour hike, you can arrive at a variety of waterfalls and enjoy peaceful relaxation. In one of the safest places in Honduras, The Leadership Center is an ideal place for teachers who want to know they are contributing to the education of impoverished individuals while at the same time having a peaceful and exciting experience.

The Leadership Center, located in rural Honduras only one hour outside the capitol city of Tegucigalpa, exists to educate, train, and develop the next generation of ethical Honduran leaders. Operated through a partnership between Leadership Mission International ( http://leadershipmissioninternational.org ) and Art For Humanity ( http://www.artforhumanity.org ), The Leadership Center began with its first cohort of students in February of 2011. All students come from poor families who could not afford a post high school education otherwise, and thus are given full scholarships for three years of study. Currently, there are 32 students studying on campus, broken into three separate cohorts.

The Leadership Center offers a three-year program in Business Entrepreneurship to all students who attend. The first year is focused on English acquisition – primarily speaking, reading, and comprehension. The second year is focused on Liberal Arts and Leadership, and offers courses in community development, math, science, history, communication, and more. The third and final year pushes students to engage in a year of business and entrepreneurship with a focus in helping students acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to launch their own small business upon graduation. It is through small business development that The Leadership Center envisions its graduates to make a significant impact throughout Honduras in the future.
