Summary:

Responsibilities:

Professional delivery of teaching programme

Ensure the effective running of classes and full participation in the life of the school

Professional management of administrative duties

Completing and being available for administrative and extra-curricular tasks when called for

Client/Student Satisfaction

Teacher performance reflects the organization’s expectations at all times

Apollo Representation

Ensure a professional performance and appearance when representing Apollo

Additional requirements

Support the overall operation of your Centre and the national activities of the EFL department:

• Average teaching hours: normally scheduled at 12-23 hours per week (depending on contract). Classes run from 7:30am to 9:45pm Monday through Friday; 7:45 am to 8:15pm on Saturday and Sunday. Split shifts are sometimes inevitable, though they are avoided where possible.

• Planning student-centered and participative lessons while following a designated syllabus

• Administering and marking mid- and end-of-level tests

• Writing student reports

• Conducting placement testing

• Participating in professional development activities, such as attendance at training sessions and peer and senior observations

• Teaching off-site classes, as required

• Completing and being available for administrative and extra-curricular tasks when called for

• Behaving in an appropriately professional and supportive manner

Qualifications:

Essential requirements for teaching position:

• A first degree

• CELTA/TEOFL/or equivalent teaching qualification

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, time management, and organizational skills

• Be able to work independently and as part of a team

• Have a sound, demonstrable knowledge of teaching theory and practice

• Experience in material and curriculum development

• Experience working in a professional teaching environment

• Flexibility and cultural awareness

• Experience working in Asia and /or a developing country (preferable)

Desirable requirements for all teaching positions at Apollo:

• At least two year’s experience and possession of an internationally recognized teaching qualification i.e. CELTA pass B (or equivalent)

• Experience teaching exam preparation classes, particularly IELTS and TOEFL

• Cambridge oral examiner

Compensation:

Dependant on qualifications and experience
