Due to continued expansion and internal promotion the following opportunities are now available:

Academic Managers (various locations)
Management posts. Overall responsibility for implementing teaching / course / materials production aspects of the EFL programs in the allocated centre. The EFL programs include General, Business, Exams, Corporate classes, YLs, and Kindy across a full range of levels.

Academic Coordinator for Corporate Programs (HCMC)
A mid management post (reporting to an Academic Manager) Responsibility for over viewing/implementing teaching / course / materials production aspects of the EFL programs for our company clients. Also includes liaison with clients on courses and support for the sales team on academic aspects of proposals.

Academic Coordinator for Corporate Programs (Hanoi)
A mid management post (reporting to an Academic Manager) Responsibility for over viewing/implementing teaching / course / materials production aspects of the EFL programs for our company clients. Also includes liaison with clients on courses and support for the sales team on academic aspects of proposals.

Academic Coordinator for Young Learner Programs (Hanoi)
A mid management post (reporting to an Academic Manager) Responsibility for over viewing/implementing teaching / course / materials production aspects of the EFL programs at the allocated centre. The EFL programs include YLs, and Kindy across a full range of levels.

Senior Teacher for Adults (Hanoi)
General duties include support and mentoring for teachers; occasional training workshops; responsibility for teachers’/resource room; observing teachers’ lessons; responsibility for materials development.

Senior Teacher for Young Learners (Hanoi)
General duties include support and mentoring for teachers; occasional training workshops; responsibility for teachers’/resource room; observing teachers’ lessons; responsibility for materials development.

Senior Teacher for General Programs (Hanoi)
General duties include support and mentoring for teachers; occasional training workshops; responsibility for teachers’/resource room; observing teachers’ lessons; responsibility for materials development.

Professional Development

We are committed to high standards of teaching and training for teaching staff. Our professional development program includes:
+ Regular observations schedule plus ‘pop-in’ observations
+ Annual Professional Development Interviews
+ Regular training workshops
+ IH in-service courses (e.g. the IHCYL and BET).
+ DELTA sponsorship available (after 3 months employment) of up
to $1000 on passing, plus a further 25% of fees per further
year working for Apollo (up to a maximum of $1000 per year and
a total of $4000)
+ Internal promotion opportunities


Competitive Package

Costs of living are such that you can enjoy a very comfortable lifestyle in Vietnam – most of our teachers eat out every night, and spend holidays traveling in Asia without working too hard to save
+ Salary: Academic Managers: scale depending on size/ number of centres; Academic Coordinators: USD 1700 - 1900 USD per month;
Senior Teachers: USD 1300 – 1600; depending on qualifications and experience (tax is payable on a sliding scale, most teaching staff pay around 10%)
+ Medical insurance allowance: 550 USD per year
+ Flight allowance: 500 USD per year (paid at the end of
contract)
+ Bonus: End of year bonus $1200. (NB Bonus is also taxable
income)
+ 20 [twenty] working days paid annual leave and an additional 9
[nine] paid days off for national holidays.


Interesting range of teaching opportunities

YL/ Kindy / G.E./ IELTS / TOEFL preparation courses, plus Business English, English for Academic Purposes and specialized courses (e.g. Pronunciation), as we expand our program for corporate & public clients.
Teachers are encouraged to teach across a range of courses.
We also run courses in other cities as part of our corporate program, and there are opportunities to be based in Danang or to spend time in one of the provincial cities or towns (for example Haiphong), to really get a feel for Vietnam – see below for further information.


Timetable

Teaching hours per quarter: 100 (Academic Managers); 156 (Academic Coordinators) - 208 (Senior Teachers) (a full time teacher is scheduled for 244 hours per quarter).
Five day working week, with two consecutive days off.
YL and Kindy programs are at the weekends except during summer when they expand to weekdays. Most adult teaching hours are in the evening, although some corporate teaching is daytime. Classes run from 7.30am to 9.30pm, 7 days a week, with mornings and evenings the most popular. Split shifts are inevitable, but we try to keep them to a minimum for individuals.

Support

The Academic team includes an Academic Manager, Academic Coordinators and/or Senior teachers plus support staff in each location. They are there to support you in both academic and personal matters and will help you settle into your new life in Vietnam.

The school does not provide accommodation, but can arrange a hotel (at a modest cost) for arrival, and offer help in finding longer term housing when you arrive.

Work Permits

All expatriate staff require a visa PLUS a work permit. Apollo applies for a business visa before the employee departs their current country of residence. All costs for visa and all costs for Work Permit documents incurred in Vietnam are covered by Apollo (Visa and other receipts required). Work Permit costs incurred outside Vietnam such as notarization of qualifications (for US citizens) and the criminal background check are the employees' responsibility. Employees will need to provide originals of documents (TEFL cert & degree) for notarization in Vietnam (non-US citizens). A medical check, done locally, (including blood test) is also required. Apollo will assist in getting this done and cover costs.

Job requirements

• Native English speaker
• BA or MA (NB this is essential for Work Permit requirements)
• CELTA/ Trinity TESOL or equivalent
• DELTA/ Trinity Diploma desirable for Academic Coordinators and
Managers
• At least three years experience
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, time management, and
organizational skills
• Flexibility and cultural awareness
• Training and mentoring experience
• Experience working in Asia and /or a developing country

Work Permit

All costs for visa and work permit are covered by Apollo (Visa receipt required), except for the criminal background check from the teacher's home country. A medical check, done locally, (including blood test) is also required. Apollo will assist in getting these done.
