OFUNATO JAPAN: Full-time ESL/EFL instructor needed from middle of January in 2016, to teach English communication skills to all ages at a private language school, Educational Inc, in Ofunato and Rikuzentakata (Iwate Prefecture), a city of nearly forty thousand in northeastern Honshu, near beautiful Sanriku Coast. Mostly small classes in a local area. Must enjoy working with small children. University graduate with TEFL/TESL experience preferred. One-year contract (minimum, renewable for second year if both parties are in agreement.).

JOB DUTIES: Up to 40 hours per week of teaching, curriculum and materials development, meetings, and workshops (about 25 hours or less of teaching per week).

SALARY: ¥250,000/month for first 3 months, then it will be ¥260,000/month for first year. After one year we pay either 50,000 yen or 80,000 yen at the end of the second year toward travel expenses.

PAID VACATION TIME: In addition to almost all Japanese national holidays except a few working days a year of national holidays, twelve days in August, fifteen days at Christmas/New Year's, and seven days from the end of April to beginning of May, all with full pay. Total days off are 110 a year.

We don't pay airfare initially, but after one year we pay either 50,000-yen toward travel expenses, or, if the teacher renews her/his contract, we pay 80,000 yen toward travel expenses at the end of the second year (but in this case, we do not pay 50,000 yen at the end of the first year). We will also pay bonus twice a year depending on how many students increase after you start teaching. The school will locate an apartment in the area and pay the initial deposits. We also furnish the apartment, apart from bedding--you'll have to buy your own sleeping stuff. Upon occupancy, the teacher will pay the monthly rent (about 40,000 yen per month including utility bills), and a lease fee of 4,000 yen per month for the furnishings. Working visa sponsorship is offered.

Rie Sato is the executive deputy president of Educational Co. and the head instructor at Sato Eikaiwa.
