Enthusiastic, Qualified Teachers are needed for ALT Positions in Northern Kyushu

 
Keio Academy, a Japanese company based in Nakatsu-City, Oita Prefecture is seeking 2 enthusiastic, experienced English teachers to work full time beginning in March. The initial contract time will be for 1 year but can be extended further upon successful completion. We are looking for individuals who have a strong desire to teach and who feel satisfaction helping students reach their goals.

Job Description:

We are hiring for 3 different types of positions:

1. ALT position for elementary schools. This will be a position where the hired teacher will travel to schools and teach Kindergarten – 6th grade Engish. Also a few small group classes at our main school building.

2. Non-ALT position teaching older students and Adults (conversation and business). This position will have the teacher teaching at our main building and also at local schools and businesses.

3. Kindergarten teacher. To teach very young learners both inside our building and at local kindergartens or pre-schools.

All teachers hired will work 5 days a week for a total of 40 working hours per week. There is a maximum of 26.5 classroom-teaching hours and the rest of the time is for office work and lesson planning. The teachers hired must also be able to participate in and help plan the various yearly events (such as, Christmas presentation, English summer camp, field trips and international parties).

City Description:

Nakatsu City is a mid-sized castle town in northern Kyushu. It is the 3rd largest city in Oita Prefecture. It is big enough to be convenient but small enough to retain its charm. It is home to many shrines, temples, teahouses and the yearly Gion festival that is a major attraction of the area. Nakatsu is also home to some very nice hiking trails, cycling paths and numerous hot springs. It is also very easy to get away for the weekend to a larger city like Kokura, Hakata or the resort town of Beppu, which are only a short distance by train.

In 1984 Keio Academy was founded in Northern Kyushu with the goal of establishing an elite school to enrich and enlighten its students in all areas of education. Requirements and Qualifications:

-A native English speaker. English must be your FIRST and primary language

-Bachelor’s degree from college or university

-Have the desire to live and work in Japan and for a Japanese company

-Professional, responsible attitude for work

-A friendly, outgoing attitude for students

-Have flexibility to succeed in a fast-paced work environment

-Priority will be given to applicants with TESOL/CELTA/TEFL or ESL certification and/or experience teaching children

-This position requires a Japanese or International driver’s license.

-Fluency in Japanese is not required but a basic understanding is needed to communicate with the Japanese teachers.

Pay and benefits:

-Starting salary of between 220,000-250,000yen a month based on experience and skill.

-5 weeks of paid vacation (25 days plus the connected weekends) spread out throughout the year, 5 days of which are selectable.

-Keio will provide reimbursement for the cost of your airline ticket used to travel to Japan (up to 100,000yen) after the completion of the first 1-year contract.

-Visa sponsorship available

-Free access to a company car for required work travel.

-Keio will help to find an apartment for the hired teachers and will pay part of the key money.

-Japanese language lessons will be available.
