English Conversation Teacher

 
An enthusiastic English teacher, able to plan and execute lessons under their own direction, is required by Annaka-Usui UNESCO Kyokai for an April 2016 start. This is a full-time, one-year renewable contract.

Working days are Tuesday to Saturday (including national holidays), with Sundays and Mondays off. Vacation time is fixed annually at 7 weeks, spread over Golden Week (April/May), the whole of August, and two weeks over New Year (end December/start January).

You will be required to deliver English conversation lessons on behalf of the local UNESCO group to adults and children in and around Annaka City, Gunma. The age range of the children is from kindergarten to high school. This amounts to 24 lessons a week (45-60 minutes each lesson) held in local community centres. In addition, there will be a maximum of 2 hours per week in a local kindergarten (30 minutes each lesson).

Candidates will work under their own direction, so this role will suit someone able to manage their own workload effectively.

In addition to providing high-quality English conversation lessons, the successful candidate will also be expected to participate in local events to promote awareness of local and global UNESCO projects.

The salary range is up to 280,000 yen per month for the right candidate. A rented apartment (furnished) is provided, for which a deduction of 51,000 yen will be taken.

While some teaching locations are quite close to the accommodation, the preferred candidate will hold a full Japanese driving licence or International Driving Permit and/or their own car, as the furthest site is around 10km away.
