Summary
Are you looking for a Director of Studies position in a dynamic and exciting education environment? Can you lead a team of international teachers and ensure the highest possible academic standards for our students?

We are seeking Director of Studies who can lead our modern young learner schools on to great things.

The Jobs
Essential qualities for this challenging position include strong people management skills and the ability to motivate and lead a team of international teachers. A proven track record in teacher training through workshops, class observations and one-on-one support are vital to this role.

The right candidate will be organized and logical in planning and implementation of new school initiatives. Excellent creativity and problem solving skills are also needed.

You will have a degree and credible TEFL qualification as well as a wide range of teaching experience, especially to young learners. You will be well versed in TEFL methodology and teaching techniques.

Above all you will be a person who has a passion for learning and a real commitment to leading and developing a team of teachers. You will be someone who is able to confidently craft a vision for the future of our school, while effectively managing its day to day operations and delivering effective teacher training. This will require all of your creativity and initiative as you work mostly independently to plan and implement your new directives that will ensure further success for our school.


Courses
Popular with teachers and students alike, the courses are aimed at a range of ages and abilities. The main focus is on young learners aged 7 to 14, although some courses are also run for older and younger students. The class sizes are kept small, to an average of 8-12 students which allows for noticeable progress to be made and also makes classroom management that much easier.

Course books are accompanied by a wide range of supplementary materials such as flashcards, posters, handouts, CDs, videos, songs and in-class computer applications, all essential for teachers to deliver varied, engaging classes. Most of the schools have installed interactive whiteboards which add an exciting new dimension to how the teachers can deliver their classes.

Currently we have Director of Studies positions for a number of our schools in China, based in 7 large, exciting cities. These cities include:


Beijing
Teach English in Beijing and immerse yourself in the traditions of ancient China while also being a part of the exciting changes of a city on the cutting edge of modern culture. Beijing continues to be an exciting place for all things music, fashion and art with plenty of events and shows to attend. There is a thriving expat community in Beijing, with the Sanlitun area being a popular destination for both expats and trendy locals to mix and mingle over drinks.

Tianjin
Tianjin is located 85 miles east of Beijing, near the coast. The capital can be reached in half an hour by fast train. As the sixth largest city in China, with a population of over 10 million people, Tianjin has a rich history and has witnessed many important events since it was given its name in 1404. Evidence of its history is still visible in the old British and Italian concessions, the port and European architectures.

Chengdu
Chengdu is the capital of Sichuan Province, which is known as the Heavenly State, located in the West of China next to Tibet. Being the natural habitat of cute giant pandas, Chengdu is located in the west of Sichuan Basin and in the center of Chengdu Plain. It covers a total area of 12.3 thousand square kilometers with a population of over 11 million.

Wuxi
Wuxi is located on the southern border of Jiangsu Province, 128 km northwest of Shanghai. Because of its warm and moist climate, Wuxi is richly endowed by nature, often being called the Land of Fish and Rice. Being located near the Yangtze River, Wuxi has been a port city with the busiest rice and cloth market before the 19th century.

Wuhan
Located right on the mighty Yangtze River east of Shanghai, Wuhan is a fascinating city with both an ancient history and a thriving present. For centuries, this city has been the center of trade and transportation in central China but is now known as one of China’s main high-tech, education and financial centers, while still having a more traditional feel than some of China’s coastal cities.

Weihai
Weihai is located in the east of Shandong peninsula and is surrounded by sea from three directions, and has a very tropical and island-like atmosphere. The air is fresh, the weather is pleasant and the views are spectacular. Weihai has won awards such as the first National Sanitary City, China Best Tourist City, National Garden City, and many others. If you enjoy swimming at the beach, Weihai has one of the best qualities of sea water in China.

Main Responsibilities
o Manage the day to day and long term needs of the teaching team
o Facilitate professional development of teachers
o Provide the team with new ESL resource options
o Recruit and induct new teachers
o Manage the school’s extensive academic program
o Support our sales and marketing team
o Control our teaching schedule
o Implement initiatives that focus on continual improvement
o Develop and implement a strategic plan for the future of the school


Compensation
o Competitive salary: 12,000 to 24,000 RMB per month (depending on school, location, qualifications and experience)
o Furnished accommodation near the school (not shared)
o Flight allowance
o Z work visa and local residential permits arranged
o Paid vacation: 15 working days plus all Chinese public holidays (usually 2 weeks per year)

Requirements
o Native English speaker from USA, UK, Canada, Ireland, South Africa, Australia or New Zealand
o University degree
o Credible teaching qualification
o At least 3 years of teaching experience and 1 year of management experience
