Government position for Student English Camps & Teacher Training

Koreaconnections is now hiring a dynamic teacher trainers on behalf Institute of Foreign Language Education with Chungnam Office of Education.

Qualifications 
-------------------------------------
-Native English speaker from USA, UK, Ireland, Canada(excluding Quebec), Australia, New Zealand, or South Africa 
-University degree and teaching certificate (TESOL, CELTA, or etc.) 
-Two years of teaching experience
-Professional appearance and demeanor 
-Must be flexible to sudden changes in scheduling and working with various personalities in the office 
-Ability to be a self-starter and a team player 
-Able to meet deadlines and multitask 
-Computer and Power Point proficient 
-Able to create teaching materials and lessons
-Able to deliver presentations about teaching techniques and methods to in-service Korean teachers as well as Native English teachers 
-Willing to participate as an MC for Camps and other center’s related programs. This requires public speaking and presentation skills

Terms and conditions

-Starting date: March 25, 2016
-Stable government position 
-One year contract
-Salary: 2.7 million won per month plus overtime pay
-Location: Gongju, Chungnam province (1.5 hour from Seoul by express bus) City website: http://www.gongju.go.kr/english.do
-Work schedule: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mon to Fri, 26 teaching hours/week 
-Settlement allowance of 300,000 won 
-14 work days of paid vacation. 
-Paid sick leave up to 10 business days  
-Free furnished non-shared 1 bed apt within 15 minute walk distance to work
-Free round trip airfare provided. If hired while in Korea, you will be provided with 500,000 won in place of a ticket over to Korea
-Help with medical insurance, national pension plan

Job Description 
-------------------------------------
1) Student Camp 
-You will teach elementary & secondary school students for whom several types of programs are offered: 4-day and 3-day immersion camps, one-day camps, and Traveling English Libraries. Student camps are a new concept whereby students study in real-life situations. This institute houses facilities which include a total of twelve venues including an airport, a post office, a restaurant, a bank and a hotel. 
-During student camps, teachers are required to work from 9am to 9pm on designated days. These overtime hours will require the teacher to lead students in performance practice and extra periods. Overtime compensation will be provided. 
-Teachers will be required to teach an elective course that focuses on task based learning (TBL). You will design your own tasks for TBL and such classes can include Science, Math, Creative Writing, Cooking etc.

2) Teacher Training: 
-You will teach in-service elementary and/or secondary school English teacher trainees. The programs focus on improving their English proficiency and teaching methodologies. 
-We have two six-month programs and two one-month programs throughout the year. 
-You will be required to produce textbook materials for the teacher training courses.

3) English Reading club 
-Center runs an on-line Reading/Book Report Club program during the year which all teachers are required to participate in.

4) Work Schedule 
-9 am-6 pm, Mon-Fri
-During some programs, overtime is required. The overtime rates are 20,000 (related to teaching) won and 8,000 (other work) won per hour. 
-Weekend hours according to program demands. 
-Immersion camps (3 or 4-day camp sessions) require a 9am-9pm commitment when scheduled.
