ELT Professionals Needed in Bangladesh

TESOL faculty

The Asian University for Women (AUW) in Chittagong, Bangladesh, invites applications for a ELT professionals for their Pre-Access Pathways for Promise program.
This new initiative is for exceptional Asian women who show promise of becoming leaders in their communities, but who lack the English language and academic skills necessary to enter the AUW university preparatory Access Academy. It is aimed at helping these students develop the knowledge, skills and confidence necessary to succeed both academically and socially in the AUW Access Academy and to proceed from there to undergraduate studies at AUW
The one-year renewable contract begins in July 2016

Main responsibilities

•Plan and deliver an average of 21 hours a week of an intensive English language teaching program (either General English or English for Academic Purposes)
•Plan purposeful lessons that meet student needs and provide for effective learning.
•Use and adapt appropriate materials, including textbooks, supplementary resources and self-created materials.
•Assess students and give both formative and summative evaluations.
•Complete teaching related administration (attendance records, work records, assessment records etc)
•Participate in an average of 2 hours a week of program-related extra-curricular activities
•Attend staff meetings / participate in teacher development program

Qualifications and Experience

Teaching with the Pathways program is both rewarding and challenging. To be considered we ask that you have the following:

Essential:
•A first degree
•A qualification related to English Language Teaching. For example, CELTA or equivalent (no online qualifications).
•A minimum of two years full-time teaching experience
•Excellent interpersonal and team-working skills
•A commitment to social change and ability to live and work in a developing country.
•Experience of / interest in working in community building with students from diverse backgrounds.
Desirable:
•MA TESOL, Delta or diploma level qualification.
•More than five year full-time experience teaching adults
•Experience of teaching English for Academic Purposes at pre-intermediate to upper intermediate levels.
•Experience of living and working in a developing country
