Volunteer or Intern Abroad, to Teach English

Make a Difference Abroad is looking for native English speaking candidates who are enthusiastic and motivated to join our small team, in teaching English classes all ages and grades. The schools are located in colonial and traditional cities in the country of Mexico.

 

Our program is designed to help children to learn a second language and offer low-cost volunteer and internship programs. We do our best to help children and to join forces with fabulous teachers and philanthropic volunteers and interns to better our communities and the world!

 

In recognition of the importance of learning English, the Mexican government requires English to be taught in schools. However, there are not enough qualified teachers for all of the children, frequently these children are seeking learning by themselves.

 

For periods of either 4 or 6 months, you will live in a community helping these children to reach their educational goals. Whichever place you chose to go, you will not only have the opportunity to teach English, but also you will also be developing your own skills as a teacher and will become acquainted with the Mexican culture.

Typical tasks that may be carried out include:

Share your experience and culture.

Compliance with code of conduct , school policy & dress code.

Provide a good quality of work for either your classes and team-work.

Apply yourself at improving the weak spots of your work environment

Planning, preparing and delivering lessons to a range of classes and age groups

Classroom management and basic administration, such as keeping student registers and attendance records.






Requirements:

-Native English Speaker (only)

-Valid ID or Driver License.

-Ability to work with limited resources.

-Provide a clean criminal record check.

-Have a real interest in teaching children.

-Participants must be 20 years of age or older.

-Have a real interest in Mexico and it’s culture.

-Must be able to make a semester commitment.

-You must hold a valid passport before to enter Mexico.

-Ability to live and work in a culture vastly different than your culture of origin.

-Be committed, responsible and flexible/ adaptable to change.

-Must be either TEYL, TESOL, TEFL,ESL, EFL, CELTA or DELTA certified.

Teaching Basics.

The English teachers from Make a Difference Abroad are placed at either public or private elementary and middle schools where they teach English in the morning or afternoon to teenagers and children from 6 to 15 years old. As a teacher you will work 4 to 6 hours a day, five days a week, Monday to Friday.

The schedule depends upon the placement of the teacher

The courses are either part of the children’s regular coursework or will be incorporated into other activities. English teachers will assist each other in developing lesson plans, leading classes and implementing interactive learning activities such as games, shows and songs. We require a willingness to learn and give it your best.
