Native English Speaking Teachers Needed in Cusco, Peru

We are searching for multiple certified, native English teachers to begin work for classes starting Wednesday, June 1.

Maximo Nivel is a large institute here in Cusco, Peru with a fun, youthful, and adventurous atmosphere. In addition to our English program, we have a large international department which provides volunteer opportunities and Spanish classes for visiting foreigners. Teachers at Maximo Nivel have the benefit of being able to take Spanish classes here at a significant discount.

English teachers here work in 6-month increments, with the possibility of extending their work agreements beyond that time if their quality of work remains high. Starting base salary is $500 USD per month, which is a more than livable salary here in inexpensive Cusco. (You can expect to pay $150-200 USD per month in rent and utilities.) This amount is for teachers who teach 6 classes per day. Some teachers have the ability to teach a 7th class, and would then earn an additional $85 USD per month. You can also work extra hours at an hourly rate for additional salary if desired.

Each class here is one hour in length. We work on a split schedule, as the majority of our clients are working professionals who take classes outside of their work schedule. We offer classes from 7:00am to 10:00am, and again from 3:00pm to 9:00pm, Monday through Friday. Teachers are required to teach multiple classes during each shift, but have several scheduled breaks throughout the day, including the long break in the middle of the day, which is convenient for exploring and enjoying the beautiful and historic city of Cusco.

We have our own curriculum, textbooks, and exams that are specifically used for Maximo Nivel. We will provide all teachers with any curriculum-related materials they need, and teachers are expected to follow the curriculum (with freedom, of course, in how each topic is taught).

If you were to be offered the position, we would need you here in Cusco ready to begin work by (at the latest) Sunday, May 31. We are happy to offer temporary housing and meals to anyone joining us from out of town to help ease the transition to Cusco. We will gladly answer any questions you may have.
