The Job

Our university is located in Hangzhou, the capital city of Zhejiang province along the southeast coast of China. Established in 1983, it is the first professional tourism institute in China on record with the Ministry of Education.

We are now hiring for the position of English language teacher to teach our university students aged from 18 to 22 years old. Candidates must be able to create engaging, varied English classes making use of a communicative approach with a focus on improving students’ oral English, as well as using relevant teaching materials and activities. You will have access to plant you resources to ensure effective teaching. Classes range from 25 to 30 students per class and you will have 8 lessons per week, with each lesson lasting 80 minutes.

The campus covers an area of about 40 acres with a building area of 100,000 square meters. It provides the students with a beautiful environment and modern facilities. It has a teaching building, a library, an e-reading room, multi-media language labs, a laboratory building for cuisine, a multi function lecture hall, a gymnasium and a sports ground. We now have an enrolment of 4,000 students from 15 provinces of China and a staff of 280 members.

Main Responsibilities
-Maximum teaching hours of 11 hours per week
-Monday to Friday classes with evenings and weekends off
-Deliver learner centered, engaging oral English lessons to students
-Ensure equal participation of all students
-Complete all administrative tasks in a timely manner
-Actively participate in professional development workshops and activities

Compensation
-Salary: 6,800 RMB per month (only 11 teaching hours per week)
-Flight allowance up to 9,000 RMB
-Paid holidays: 11 days national holiday + winter vacation off (contract form Sept – July)
-Legal ‘Z’ work visa provided
-Travel allowance provided

Requirements
-Native English speaker from UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand or Ireland
-Bachelor’s degree
-TEFL certificate preferred but not required (No TEFL? – We recommend INTESOL www.GoldStarTeachers.com/INTESOL)
-2 years of previous teaching experience
-Professional, positive and culturally aware
