A Teaching Position in Kumamoto, Southwestern Japan

A Native English Teacher Needed in Kumamoto, Southwestern Japan (Kyushu Island)

The Washington Institute of Language in Kumamoto, Japan, is seeking a full-time native English speaking teacher to teach both children and adults. Candidates with elementary school qualifications and/or ESL/EFL training for children are preferred for this exciting opportunity.

What: Full-time native English teacher
Contract: one year and 3 months, renewable
Starting date: January 5, 2017
(One week foundation training & orientation)
Compensation: 3,000,000 Japanese yen per year
Accommodation: Available about 40,000 Japanese yen per month.
Working visa sponsorship available

The Washington Institute of Language is located in downtown Kumamoto, a medium-sized city in southwestern Japan. The city is noted for its famous castle, which was home to a samurai lord, and for the beautiful nature surrounding the city. The city is within an hour's drive of Mount Aso and the western sea. Kumamoto experiences 4 distinct seasons and is a great city to explore the outdoors. As a metropolitan area, you'll find Starbucks, KFC, McDonald's and Baskin Robbins, as well as traditional Japanese cuisine, shops and entertainment all within a 5 minute walk of our school.

WIL seeks a professionally trained full-time English teacher for children learning English and with adults seeking conversation practice in a classroom setting. Duties include adult and children's classes 5 days a week, for a total of 26 teaching hours per week. Additional planning and evaluation responsibilities may be required as well. An orientation period of 1-week must be completed prior to the commencement of duties.
