The Job

Our school in Shanghai is now recruiting qualified English teachers to be a part of our close-knit community of professional teachers. We are currently hiring for primary, middle and high school positions to teach students aged between 7 to 18 years old. We are committed to providing our students the most advanced and engaging international curriculum. With full support from the Chinese government, we also offer government required subjects as Chinese, Civic Education, Geography and History. Our team currently consists of 50 foreign teachers and 150 local teachers with around 1500 students and growing.

The international curriculum we provide in our school is delivered completely in English. Through the introduction of American-style learning methods and full English immersion, we are preparing our young learners to seamlessly adapt to the learning environment at international universities after they graduate. The school not only focuses on academics, we also educate our students to develop integrity and further enhance their intellectual curiosity, critical thinking skills and international perspectives.

Shanghai

Known as the Pearl of the Orient, Shanghai is truly an international metropolis in every sense of the word. Shanghai is the economic and cultural center of China. It is the most vibrant and progressive city in the country with incredible melting pot of cultures from the East and the West. On one side of the mighty Yangtze River flowing through Shanghai is the Pu Dong district, rural farm land just 20 years ago; it is now the financial and commercial hub with skyscrapers stretching ever higher. Along the western bank of the river, the iconic Bund is a reminder of the colonial past of Shanghai featuring grand European architecture.

For those who like to shop, party and eat, Shanghai has all you could possibly want and more. But despite its cosmopolitan reputation, pockets of quaint tradition remain alive and well, dotted throughout the city. Explore countless old markets, back streets crammed with local eateries and discover incense filled temples still central to the locals¡¯ daily life.

Main Responsibilities
o Maximum of 21 teaching hours per week
o 40 hour work week including teaching hours
o Lesson planning
o Create assessments and complete grading for each course you teach
o Organize and supervise extracurricular activities
o Teach all courses exclusively in English
o Attend trainings and meetings
o Attend occasional recruiting days for faculty and staff at education fairs and events throughout Shanghai
o Discuss students progress and areas of improvements with their parents during Parent Teacher Conferences each semester



Compensation
o Excellent salary: 16,000 RMB per month (first year), 17,400RMB per month (second year), 18,700RMB/month (third year)
o Performance based annual bonus: 7,470 USD (50,050 RMB) provided at the end of the year for the 1st year), 51,750RMB for 2nd year, and 109,550RMB for the 3rd year
o Round trip airfare reimbursement provided after contract completion
o 5500RMB per month housing allowance for first year teachers
o Legal Z work visa provided
o Annual travel allowance: 7,800RMB after contract completion
o 7 days national holidays with winter break
o Two meals provided per day during working days
o Free Chinese classes
o Health Insurance (100% cover for local hospitals)
o Health Insurance for International hospitals: 1st year can cover up to 50%, 2nd year can cover up to 55%, 3rd year can cover up to 60%


Requirements
o Bachelor degree
o TEFL certificate required (at least 120 hours) (No TEFL? We recommend INTESOL, est. 1993, 50% discounts: www.GoldStarTeachers.com/INTESOL)
o Native English speaker from USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia or New Zealand
o 2 years of teaching experience required
o Culturally aware and excellent work ethics
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
