Job Description

We are Currently Looking for Full-time Teachers to Teach in Quy Nhon, Vietnam

Access English is a recent addition to the ranks of language schools in Quy Nhon City, on the coast in South-Central Vietnam. We are currently looking for full-time teachers to teach a range of young learner courses.

Owned and managed by a long term expat, Access English is the only centre in Quy Nhon to employ only native English speakers. We aren’t able to provide the same salaries that are advertised by language centres in the bigger cities in Vietnam. However, the cost of living is much lower than other cities in Vietnam, so you can save at least the same amount. Living and working in Quy Nhon has also has its own attractions that offset this to a large degree.

Quy Nhon (population approx 300,000) has one of the most relaxed lifestyles of any city in Vietnam. Surrounded by hills with lovely beaches, numerous cafés and restaurants and stunning coastal drives to the north and south it is one of the undiscovered treasures of Vietnam. Quy Nhon is off the tourist beaten track - you can go days without seeing another foreigner in the city. The cost of living is unbelievably low. Houses can be rented for under USD200 per month and a furnished apartment for around USD300. The city also offers some of the tastiest, freshest and most inexpensive seafood in Vietnam. Traffic is more tolerable and the crime rate is much lower than in any of the big cities. Quy Nhon is well positioned as a base from which to travel around Vietnam. The local airport is well-served by the major airlines in Vietnam and air fares are quite low. We’re also just off the Hanoi-Saigon railway line - four hours to Nha Trang and six hours to Da Nang by rail.

We aim to provide a friendly, relaxed and supportive working environment. We have an extensive and expanding resource library to make lesson planning easier. You can expect around 18-20 teaching hours per week although during busy periods you will have more hours. Most of our classes run in the evening or at the weekend, although there are a few weekday morning and afternoon classes. Teachers are given one day off per week.

We offer full-time contracts for 60 or 80 hours per month. You will be paid USD16 per hour in VN dong, paid twice a month. In addition, we have a bonus system based on performance, professional development and contract completion.

As part of the employment package we offer:
* ongoing professional development
* a good range of resources
* professional and personal support
* assistance in getting established in Quy Nhon

Responsibilities:
* teaching a range of courses and ages
* administering and marking tests
* assisting with extra-curricular activities
* writing student reports
* conducting placement tests

We’re looking for native speakers or high-level non-native speakers (proof of proficiency is needed - IELTS or similar). We’re looking for teachers who will take the job seriously. Experience is a plus, but a professional attitude to teaching is far more important. With the recent changes in employments laws in Vietnam, the procedures for obtaining a work permit are much more stringent. Applicants will need have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree, a recognised TEFL certificate and a police record check from your country, all of which need to be notarised by your country’s consulate in Vietnam. You will also require a health check from a local hospital.
