ALT - Assistant Language Teacher (April 2017 start)

Heart English School

Job Description

ALT - Assistant Language Teacher (April 2017 start)

Heart Corporation is now looking for Assistant Language Teachers who wish to enrich the lives of elementary, junior high school, and high school students. The next school year will start in April 2017, and we are looking for teachers to join us in positions.

There is also a chance to be considered for a position beginning earlier should the need arise.

The main duties of an ALT are to provide fun and effective English lessons and internationalize Japanese youth. It is important for ALTs to help bridge this gap by giving students first-hand knowledge and experience of different cultures, as well as providing fun and effective English lessons. Although teaching is an important part of the job, essentially teachers play and have fun with students and get paid for it! Some ALTs do different sports with the students or join clubs and afterschool programs.

Most positions are 5 days a week (Monday through Friday), but some lighter part-time positions are also available, especially in the metro Tokyo area, and there might be very occasional weekend work for events and other special occasions. Conditions regarding specific hours and salary depend on each city and its requirements. To better meet the flexibility required by our client school boards, positions are contracted on a term-by-term basis, with three school terms per year, but we intend to continuously offer contracts to ALTs if all parties are satisfied. Applicants are requested to apply with the intention of working at least one school year.
