Academic Coordinator Position in Hanoi, Vietnam

ACADEMIC COORDINATOR IN HANOI

The Academic Coordinator (AC) reports to the Director of Studies (DoS)/Assistant Director of Studies (ADoS,) and monitors, supervises, and supports the academic teaching team to deliver ACET programs.
The AC is responsible for monitoring the delivery of high quality Academic English, IELTS preparatory, and Young Teens (6-9th grade) programs. This involves the day to day management of the ACET programs, and providing ongoing teacher support, as well as student administration and support. This position may have involvement in all ACET programs mentioned, but does have a significant priority (70/30) towards coordinating the Academic English and IELTS Preparatory programs. This coordination includes development, promotion and maintenance of the AE/IELTS programs in line with the strategic goals of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibility details:
Teacher management (15%)
o Run induction sessions for new teachers
o Assist the DoS with communication between ACET and the teaching team
o Conduct teacher observations – observe and give feedback to teachers, conduct appraisals, and offer support and advice.
o Conduct teacher development workshops
o Maintain and monitor teacher professionalism, and report any problems to the DoS
o Arrange mentoring for teachers new to a level, and act as a mentor to new teachers as needed
o Assist in the development, organization, and filling of supplementary materials, ensuring that duplicate/identical materials are available at all teaching centres

Product management (10%)
o Collate teacher feedback and liaise with DOS/ADOS regarding any curriculum change
o Liaise with teachers to monitor end of term exam results, reporting any problems to the DOS and ADOS
o Conduct projects assigned by DOS/ADOS

Administration (20%)
o Assist with student placement testing
o Liaise with teachers and counsellors on student matters

Teaching hours(55%)
o This is dependent on the time of year varying from 6 to 20 hours per week

Qualifications
o An undergraduate degree from a recognised university
o An internationally recognised English language teaching qualification (e.g. CELTA, or equivalent)
o 3+ years ELT/TESOL teaching experience at reputable institutions
o Experience in teaching English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and/or IELTS preparatory classes
o A postgraduate ELT/TESOL qualification, such as Cambridge DELTA, Cambridge IDLTM or a Master’s degree in ELT/TESOL (or in process)
o Thorough understanding of the role of culture in language learning
o ELT experience in Vietnam preferred

Salary and Benefits
o End of contract completion bonus equivalent to one month salary
o US$500 per annum towards medical insurance
o Work permit and visa costs covered by ACET
o 20 working days recreational leave per year on a pro-rata basis
o Public holidays during the contract will be paid as working days
o Sick leave up to 10 days per year with 100% payment of gross salary
