University English teaching position available on coast of Oaxaca

Universidad del Mar or University of the Sea (UMAR) is located in Puerto Angel on the southern coast of Oaxaca, Mexico.UMAR is a public institution of higher education and scientific research of the state of Oaxaca, which has the support and recognition of the federal government. UMAR is based on the new university model of the Mixteca Technological University, also in the Oaxaca System of State Universities.www.umar.mx

EFL Professors wanted
UMAR is looking for a creative, dynamic, hard-working cooperative professional to form part of an integral team of language teachers at the university level, a true team player. Professors teach 3-4 classes daily. The language program needs teachers who are independent, versatile, flexible, and creative. Teachers are expected to create all lesson plans and class materials based on curriculum objectives, be flexible and able to adapt to the class’ needs.

Hours: Monday to Friday from 8:00a.m-1:00p.m and from 4:00pm-7:00p.m.
The candidate is required to teach between 15-20 hours a week & the other hours are used for tutoring sessions, professional development activities, developing projects & writing articles within the University & the community along with committee work within the department.

Start date: ASAP
Because immigration process takes a few months, we will be interviewing soon to have the chosen candidate arrive in sufficient time.

Salary: $12,000 MXN per month (more or less) plus benefits (Social Security, 5 weeks paid vacations, vacation bonuses, Christmas bonus, savings plan, and monthly "vales de dispensa")

Depending on credentials, most teachers earn $12,000 MXN per month net, which is a very competitive local salary. The salary is paid in local currency & is reasonable to live comfortably & is set by the regional system. The University position provides attractive benefits (annual bonus, savings plan, pension, healthcare, five weeks paid holiday).

The candidate must be a native English speaker & a successful applicant will have a B.A. + CELTA/TEFL/TESOL Certification or an M.A. in a relevant field and at least two years of classroom teaching experience, preferably with young adult students. Experience teaching (transitional) writing, abstracts, or TOEFL is a plus. Knowing some Spanish would be helpful, but certainly not a requirement.
