Non-Tenure Track EFL Professors for the 2017 Fall Semester at Soongsil University, Seoul, Korea

1. Position
Baird University College at Soongsil University invites applicants for non-tenure track, full-time professor positions for its Freshmen English Program: a compulsory credit-bearing course which includes General English (i.e., four language skills), Advanced English (e.g., critical thinking, presentation skill, etc.), and other communicative skills, beginning on September 1, 2017.

2. Qualifications
2-1) Foreign native speaker of English
2-2) Master¡¯s degree or above
2-3) Minimum two years of teaching experience at the university level
*TEFL/TESL/TESOL/CELTA certification is preferred for an applicant whose major field of study is not Applied Linguistics, English Literature or TESOL/TEFL.
2-4) Ability to give a teaching demonstration and attend an in-person interview on campus at Soongsil University in the fifth week in June.

H. Personal Information Collection and Usage Agreement (signed, scanned, and attached)

3-2) Applicants who pass the initial screening process will be invited for an interview and will be required to do a short (10-minute) demonstration lesson. At the time of the interview and teaching demonstration, the following documents will need to be presented:
A. Original Diplomas/Degrees
B. Official documentation of previous employment
C. National Criminal Background Check (if possible)

4. Important Notes
4-1) Document authenticity: All documents submitted at time of application must be scans of the originals.
4-2) Interview: Candidates must be available for a teaching demonstration and a face-to-face interview in the fifth week in June 2017 at Soongsil University in Seoul.
4-3) Contract Period: The initial contract is for one year, September 1, 2017 to August 31, 2018.
* Renewal based on student-teacher course evaluations and administrative assessment.
* Subsequent contracts are of two-year duration.
4-4) Working Hours: Instructors are required to teach at least 15 hours per week (M-F) in our English Program.
4-5) Office Hours: Instructors are required to hold 4 office hours weekly.
4-6) Other Responsibilities: Each instructor is required to spend up to one hour per week doing committee work
(e.g., curriculum, material development¡¦etc.) and to attend all official functions.
4-7) Salary and Benefits
A. Starting annual salary ranges from 27~28 million won per year depending on educational and professional experience.
B. Overtime Payment: Instructors who serve in a teaching capacity in addition to their regular 15-hour requirement will be paid the KRW 32,000/hour rate set by Soongsil University for full-time professors.
C. Housing Allowance: A housing allowance of 450,000 won per month.
D. Paid Vacation: Approximately 8 weeks in the summer & 8 weeks in the winter
