Tanjungpinang, Bintan Island.

Bintan is a popular tourist destination. There is a plethora of watersports available including, snorkeling and diving in the coral reefs, canoeing, kitesurfing and enjoying the beaches. Other activities include golf, spas, fishing, and exploring nature. Bars and restaurants with international dishes can be found in the hotels.  

It is a one hour ferry ride to Batam Island, Indonesia and two hours to Singapore. You can also fly to Jakarta, Indonesia in one hour. 

Job Description:

Learning Journey English School is an evolving independent school which opened in November 2016. Our students are currently aged between 4 and 11 years old. We have a waiting list of potential students for secondary school aged students and adults.   

There are two positions available:

1) Teaching pre-school and primary school aged students

2) Teaching secondary school aged students and adults.

As well as the learning objectives, we incorporate the students’ interests into planning the lessons. Therefore, our curriculum is emergent. We are looking for creative individuals who are self-motivated and enthusiastic to generate their lesson plans and materials independently. This will be done with the guidance of a mentor. Lessons should be engaging, interactive and stimulating and delivered in a friendly, student-orientated way. We seek individuals who are passionate about education and strive to build a strong rapport with their students.   

The suitable candidate is respectful of different cultures and religions, has a positive mentality and is prepared to adapt to living and working in a developing country.    

Requirements:


Minimum of a Bachelor degree in any major and a TEFL/TESOL/CELTA with in-classroom experience (not a weekend or on-line course) or other English Teaching certification

Holds a passport from the UK, USA, Canada, Australia or New Zealand

Passport valid for at least 18 months after arrival in Indonesia

Clean health record: Signed doctor’s letter to confirm free from HIV/AIDS, drugs and mental illness

Certified Criminal Background checks

Willing and ready to work a minimum 12-month contract
Able to provide original documents for KITAS purposes such as:
University Degree Certificate and the Transcript
TEFL/TESOL or other English Teaching Certificate

We offer:

Small class sizes (for primary school aged students - maximum 8 students; for secondary school aged students & adults - maximum 12 students).

5 day work week (2 days off per week)

Maximum 30 hours teaching per week plus lesson planning and preparation

Two weeks full pay holiday leave (to be taken in one block) and paid leave on public holidays

Sponsorship of legal KITAS (work visa)
Accommodation

Medical insurance

Expenses to cover basic living costs.

A renewable 1 year contract
